They should make a version with AirPlay integral, and at least 1080P!

I get the impression that the official unlocked iPhones' by AT&T put a qualifier on the IMEI so that you get a certain type of plan for iPhone use. This is my theory, that the unofficial unlock process bypasses this somehow?

Rebooting did nothing, but it does recognize voicemails are pending via the SIM card and puts up an alert, but still says No Service. Yes it is an AT&T iPhone 3GS, stock firmware was restored, no hactivation.

Needs another phone card purchased to put $ on it, but it worked fine previously with a GoPhone feature phone, and last year on an original iPhone that was jailbroken and unlocked. Not sure what changed. Even if there's no money on it, you should be able to dial 611 from it, but now only gives a "call failed". Something is different about the factory unlock vs. the unofficial unlock in how it works. I'm trying to figure it out. Had the same result on the original iPhone when it was factory unlocked at the same time as the 3GS... Open to ideas!

So I restored with GoPhone SIM installed, iTunes confirmed the unlock, and I did not yet JB again, still get a No Service message. :( Any other ideas?

9 to 5 Mac | Apple Intelligence : Consumer Reports also has harsh words for AppleTV

Yep, they need an AppStore, but since it's not out yet, the biggest thing I use is Crackle on iPhone to AppleTV 2nd Gen. The other thing to do in the meantime is to jailbreak it with Seas0npass and check out http://firecore.com for their ATV Flash Black! I guess when 802.11ac comes out, we'll get 1080P AirPlay streaming too, but that will be more new HW...

9 to 5 Mac | Apple Intelligence : ATF's new Smartphone weapon of choice? Apple's iPhone

Wow, now news organizations that report the facts are now "crapy" and "extremist"? Wow, you sir are an extremist, if that is your view. Facts are facts, and there are plenty of other news sources that have clearly exposed this out of control agency. Name one thing the government does well, besides waste the money of We The People and usurp our rights?

Lookup Nito TV, and Firecore's ATV Flash (Black) will give you some good hints, not to mention XBMC, and the ability to add a Bluetooth keyboard! To be honest, with AirPlay Mirroring on iPhone 4S and iPad 2, a lot of the interest in jailbreaking ATV has gone, but XBMC is very worthwhile, and some other stuff...

FYI, TinyUmbrella is updated! "Tentative iOS 5.0.1 Support Even though there is still no working solution for restoring 5.x on iPhone 4S I have released a 5.01.00 so you can at least save 5.0.1 SHSH. I have added tentative support for at least saving 5.0.1 SHSHs for iPhone 4S but as of now we are unable to use them fully. As soon as more information is available I will update." http://thefirmwareumbrella.blogspot.com/

Please tell me there is Unlock hope for a 3GS (old bootrom), with iOS 5 and 05.16.05 baseband? This unlocking is a pain in the butt. Why won't AT&T unlock a device after your contract has expired?! I want to pass my old device to someone who wants to use it GoPhone style... Also, why in the heck is it not possible to arbitrarily install baseband versions, just like iOS versions?!
