Hey Ron
IAM retired! I practiced dentistry for 25 years and now work about 85 days per year on a 9 hour rural route. I get no retirement from the PO, norwill I ever. I ran a very profitable business for 25 years, then sold it. I moved to N Wisc to a new home I built andlooked for
something to do part-time. I stated what I see from a 'business' perspective. If you dont want to believewhat Isay, so be it. I only get an hourly wage and enjoy the job. I do see the immense waste and poor business practices. Tosay the USPS should be beholden to printers is hilarious. The USPS delivers mail andyou could eliminate tons of machinery and tons of people if you had more standardized mail. Put the stuff in envelopes if your printers wont work! You run a business to deliver a'standard' product, not to offer something to everyone. When you have no basic standards, it simply creats chaos. If it is not worth it for3rd class mailers - then they dont need to mail and weneed fewer employees! To offer a service and make no profit on it is stupid. The USPS delivers 3rd class and bulk mail for no profit and is often a loss(that is a fact!). As I stated it is always interesting to read comments of those who have no clue and you certainly dont.

It is interesting to read comments about the postal system from those who have no clue. The post office has 3 main problems: 1. they dont charge enough for the 3rd class mail 2. they need standard dimensions for ALL mail.__3-4 different sizes could cover all mail and would cut down on time sorting, etc. by an immense amount of time.__3. administrative and related positions are WAY WAY over employed. Cut many of these useless positions and it goes right to the bottom line to help balance things.__I ran my own business for 25 years - retired and took a part-time job with the USPS. What an eyeopener this has been for the last 3+ years. A few simply changes would and could work wonders with the bottom line. Cutting back to 5 days for mail would only cut out the part-time help and increase overtime for full-time. I would bet it would be a wash(if that). You would still have to deliver 6 days mail in 5 and that means more time for the fulltime people who get full benefits and are paid alot more than use part-timers. It can be fixed, but like everything else in government
