The link between NI and state pensions never existed. From the outset pensions were paid from he exchequer and National Insurance paid retrospectively.

National Insurance is an insurance against old age. It is a contract with the government. That the government does not ring-fence NI payments is government policy. That is the fault of government not pensioners.
State pension is not welfare.

I am hoping that the right-wing parties, UKIP, Brexit Party, Reform Party and any other I don't know about, will unite and provide a genuine small c conservative alternative to the 2½ liberal-left mainstream parties we have at the moment.
