Tennessee Tenth Amendment Center : The Health Care Compact: A Trojan Horse?

I think the part you are missing Dennis is that the states don't need a health care compact to do this. When the federal government passes laws that are unconstitutional, as is the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act, those laws are null and void because they are not made "in pursuance of" the Constitution. The Constitution gives the federal government no authority whatsoever in matters of health care. You speak of "moving health care authority" to the states, but the authority it already in the hands of the states per the Constitution. There is no need to move it, the Constitution guarantees ALL powers not enumerated in the Constitution to the states. That includes health care. Your mention of the supremacy clause only applies to laws made by Congress that are constitutional. As the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act is not constitutional, it is not supreme to state law. A health care compact is not only not needed, but potentially dangerous in creating what may become yet another regulatory bureaucracy that could be worse than the federal government.

Tennessee Tenth Amendment Center : Legislative Update - Week of March 20

The most important thing that we can do as a state is to wean ourselves off of the federal teat. That is the only way to prevent this type of federal blackmail of the state government. Another important step will be to implement a Federal Tax Escrow Account, where the state government collects all federal taxes from its citizens and then remits those to the federal government. This will give the state government significant leverage to prevent this type of blackmail, because if the federal government withholds funds from the state or passes unfunded mandates down to the state, the state government can simply withhold the federal funds to pay for it. These steps will take some courageous state legislators and a courageous governor, people who are more concerned about the good of Tennesseans than about self-preservation or their political careers.

Tenth Amendment Center : Allen West: Tea Party Statist

Deborah: I have trouble understanding why you believe that supporting the Constitution and the Bill of Rights as the Founders intended is support for Communism? I find your assertion disingenuous, as our Constitution and Bill of Rights are clearly written to recognize the God-given rights that we human beings have as individuals, and Communism is a political system that attempts to suppress those rights. It seems to me that you believe in Mr. West more than you believe in the Constitution and the Bill of Rights, and I find that very troubling.

Tenth Amendment Center : Allen West: Tea Party Statist

Mr. Kilgour: Frankly, I am delighted to see a solid analysis calling out a "Tea Party" candidate on his hypocrisy in coloring inside the constitutional lines when it suits his political agenda, and then stepping outside those lines when it suits his purpose. Many of the new "Tea Party" candidates who were just elected because they touted themselves as constitutionalists are quite happy to step outside the Constitution to support completely unconstitutional endeavors like the Patriot Act. This is obscene! Mr. Kilgour, it is the Tea Parties who are being manipulated to put blind faith in neoconservative candidates who will give lip service to true constitutional values and then do whatever their agenda requires, the Constitution be damned! They may be doing things with the best of intentions (or not), but as a wise person once said "The road to hell is paved with good intentions." The Tenth Amendment Center was 110% right in pointing out the hypocrisy of Mr. West's speech and actions. Hopefully Mr. West will learn the error of his ways and start on a path towards becoming a true constitutionalist who will stand for the Constitution, every time, every issue, no excuses. If not, he needs to be voted out and replaced with someone who will uphold the Constitution. Whenever We the People allow our politicians to step outside the clear lines drawn by the Constitution, we lose our liberties and are a little less safe. This is why we need groups like the Tenth Amendment Center to always draw us back to the high ground of principled liberty as outlined in the Constitution.

Tennessee Tenth Amendment Center : Who Gets to Decide What You Eat?

The legislation gives the FDA the power to decide their own powers, which is a big problem. Federal bureaucracies are notorious for continually expanding their own powers to obscene levels. While the intent of the legislation may not be to give the FDA powers over these, it is likely that eventually the FDA will try to expand its powers to include these. This is why it is incredibly dangerous for Congress to try to delegate its lawmaking powers to unelected bureaucrats. There is, in fact, a lot of verbiage in the legislation about regulation of storage of food and food products. This could easily be construed to give the FDA powers to go into to small backyard gardens and family farms and require them to purchase millions of dollars in equipment, essentially prohibiting people from growing backyard gardens and putting small family farms out of business.

Tenth Amendment Center : More Republican Pledge Hypocrisy

There is only one political party in this country, and that is the Big Government Party. There may be two branches, but ultimately they share the same goal - expansion of their power over the American people. We can't trust either party. This Pledge to America is simply an attempt by the Republican establishment to lure the us into a false sense of security and co-opt the liberty movement that has been sweeping this country.

Tennessee Tenth Amendment Center : Firearms and the Constitution Versus Treaties

As I said, this knowledge may not stop the enemies of liberty and U.S. sovereignty from trying to usurp the Constitution through treaty. The only problem with the assertion you make is that the Supreme Court and its subordinate courts do not have any authority under the Constitution to grant the Federal government additional powers. So those powers "granted" by the courts are null and void. This is why nullification is so important. The states need to stand guard and refuse to comply with any laws, treaties, or court decisions that come down that would usurp the constitutional limits on Federal powers.

Tennessee Tenth Amendment Center : Interview on TN Attorney General, Constitution

With respect Mr. Morrison, the dictionary definition of the word liar is "a person who tells lies." If Attorney General Cooper is lying or being deceptive, then the word liar is appropriate. It is likely that Attorney General Cooper is interpreting the Constitution in whatever method backs his political ideologies, instead of reevaluating his ideologies based on the Founders' original intent. This is the classic strategy that most politicians use to justify whatever they want to do. If this is the case, and it likely is, then liar is certainly an appropriate term. At some point, we have to be prepared to call a spade a spade instead of constantly trying to bow at the altar of political correctness. I don't believe that Michael Boldin is being uncivil in the least, in fact he is one of the most civil people I know.

Tennessee Tenth Amendment Center : Stop the Carbon Madness!

Non-believer, you seem to have forgotten about the super herds of wild cattle (i.e. buffalo and bison) that used to roam North America. I assure you that these cattle have gaseous emissions just like domesticated cattle. Most of these herds have dwindled down to almost nothing, while domesticated cattle have increased substantially in population, so in the end it balances out. As far as your reference to Hitler, I fail to see the relevance, as nowhere in this post is anyone compared to a merciless, genocidal dictator. I find your reasoning in bringing up such a comparison flawed, illogical, and frankly immature.

Well said Bryce! Just as Reagan managed to bring down the Berlin wall by calmly, firmly, and repeatedly speaking the truth, so too do we need to resolve to do the same. This is the best way to fight for the 10th Amendment and all of our freedoms. If we continue to speak the truth and not give up, eventually the wall will come down!
