Les Lamb (LesLamb.ca) : Twelve Things I Wish I Could Change About Christians

Thanks, Cameron. Love that statement, "His Word IS His Will!" Good word from Sandra, too. I'm reminded of something I heard a couple years ago that really stuck with me...."There are 2 prayers God will never answer: things He's already done, and things He's waiting for us to do."

Les Lamb (LesLamb.ca) : Christ Did Not Die for Who You Were

Thanks for your comment Emma. I disagree the "Bible is interpretations." Actually, it makes many very clear statements, and it is up to us to do the interpreting and apply them to our lives. People try and complicate this, but if you take the Bible at face value, as you would any other book, it's meaning is pretty straight forward, and anyone can understand it. I hope you'll put what you've heard about the Bible aside and read it daily for yourself....you may be surprised how relevant and clear it is to you! If I can make a suggestion, the book I blogged about here: http://leslamb.ca/2008/12/11/the-2nd-best-book-iv... is especially helpful. Take care!

Les Lamb (LesLamb.ca) : How We are Preparing for the Swine Flu (H1N1)

Some good points you've made here. I've never been one for fear mongering either, and I hope this is all this turns out to be. I'm also not a doctor, and it is the medical community, as well as the media, who are expressing concern. So I'm going to reserve judgment on this one until afterwards, prepare for whatever may happen, and hope that you turn out to be right. I've seen much controversy over vaccines like this one, and our family is choosing not to get the flu shot. This is why the document we've produced encourages each person to talk with a health care provider and make their own decision. Thanks for weighing in!

Les Lamb (LesLamb.ca) : How to Study the Bible - First Night

That would be amazing, but I wouldn't be surprised if they have something similar in the church you and Rob were going to, or another one around there. Either way, I highly recommend the book we're using for this group: Check out "Living by the Book" by Howard Hendricks on amazon.ca. Even if you read it on your own, apart from a group, you'll get TONS out of it. Our Highway to Maturity classes (the ones Rob took) are also available to you online....if you're interested, I'd be happy to give you a login.

Thanks, Lorraine! I'm so glad to hear you enjoyed it as much as I did. I'm actually going over parts of it again, to get a firm handle on it. I'll definitely be using his principles, not only in my own study times, but to teach others, as well.

One of my favourite quotes is "No man knows how bad he really is until he tries very hard to be good." (C.S. Lewis). We'll have to share how we're doing with each other along the way. We've already caught ourselves several times today, lol. Let's keep each other in prayer. Maybe some others will join us!

Praying for you, Ruthie! God, I lift Ruth up to you right now, and I thank you she is an OVERCOMER and that she can do ALL things through Christ who strengthens her! Give her wisdom, and help her to find the balance she's looking for in every area of her life. Help her be the woman of God you created her to be. In Jesus' name.
Les Lamb (LesLamb.ca) : Have OCC's Vision and Values Changed? Survey Comments

Mike, you have done an amazing job with our video stuff here, and we are thankful for you, too! Interestingly, while this debate is going on here, which I think is great, two cool things happened this week. One non-Christian came out to church on Sunday because she saw one of our ads. This morning, another non-Christian who was raised by atheists contacted me out of the blue, and has questions about Christianity. He's looking for God, and didn't know where to start. So he googled "Oshawa churches," and found our website, watched one of our messages, and I'm going for coffee with him. He's also trying to rearrange his work schedule so he can come on Sunday mornings. What I hope people will understand is that it's not about us and our Christian preferences. It's about uniting together behind a common vision and reaching out to our community with the most powerful message on the planet. Will people take one look at our City Kids set or flashy videos and fall on their knees saying "what must we do to be saved?" This is a ridiculous misinterpretation of what we have clearly explained. It's prayer, the Word and the Holy Spirit that does that. So let's do both - make ourselves available and relevant, while praying hard and preaching the Word of God.
