I don't think you anyone should score the players for this game or any other until there is a space to score Allardyce. The only player who knows what he is doing is Faye (funny enough he invaribaly gets top marks) . He is a central defender playing in central defence. Green didn't do anything. Poor old Maynard must be wondering what the f**k is going on. Personally I didn't think Cole played too badly but if no one is there what's the point of playing with your back to goal. And as for Tomkins...British athletics aren't going to enter Mo Farah in the 100 metres dash this summer are they, he'll get beaten by Usain Bolt. So why play one of the best CB is the country in a raoming midfield role. I'm glad I've still got some hair otherwise my head would be bleeding with all the scratching I've been doing. Night night everyone, sleep well.

I reckon you're right about Athletico Bilbao, Bielsa has got them punching above their weight in Europe. We're so predictable that any coach worth his salt can figure out how to stop us. We've got the players, let's get stuck in and scare the sh!t out the them.

West Ham Till I Die : When the Going Gets Tough, the Tough Get Going!

My boy plays basketball. His club is a bit of a yo-yo team. One season they're top next they struggle. Quite a bit of that has to do with older boys moving on to the next age group but nevertheless when they are up against a stronger team the training they do in the week prior is far more intense than when their next match should be easier. And when they loose to a weaker team the training monday evening is all about the basics, shooting, dribbling with both hands, passing and moving. Allardyce has got to tell the 11 players on the field that regardless of the fact that they are playing the likes of Doncaster, Watford, Peterborough or whoever there is no easy game. They have to work both during the match and on the training field. They are professional players they need to be mentally strong to achieve their ultimate goal and that is to be promoted. So next year they can show what they can do against some of the best in the world.

West Ham Till I Die : Home Form: Are We to Blame?

A chap called Maslow talked about Happiness and the Heirarchy of Needs. Basically you're happy if you needs (or expectations) are satified. At the end of the game on Wednesday the Watford fans probably went home happy, their expectations were lower than ours. We not only expect to win but play in a way that is pleasing to the eye. Again this is subjective what one individual thinks is pleasing may have lower expectations than another. So why do so many boo? I don't think anyone thinks I'm going to boo this lot it just happens and then it becomes, we could say fashionable. But lets face it not all fashion is good, those skinny jeans that hang of your ar5e are just stupid (for the older readers remember flares, you looked like a dick). I think it is up to the home fans as much as the players and Allardyce to create the atmosphere. Better the support the better the play. As Charles Dickens wrote in Great Expectations "I never had one hour's happiness in her society, and yet my mind all round the four-and-twenty hours was harping on the happiness of having her with me unto death." and he was born in Portsmouth so think what he would've had to put up with.

I totally agree with your fifth point. But unlike the top clubs in other leagues it seems that we don't know how to nick a win. Yes are in the top two and probably the biggest club in the division (in terms of history, support, resources and reputation) but it is not a god given right to beat teams like Watford. Their fans will be quite happy this morning, maybe a touch disappointed not to hold on for all three points. On Sunday Cardiff were poor, Watford were no better last night, there has to be something wrong with our confidence and motivation. However having said that we did salvage a draw that wasn't happening last season.

Just to echo some other comments. One we probably have enough to get promoted are Celik and Mills premiership quality? If not, then let it go. And then if we are to "help" a club up sh!t creek surely Pompey are a better if self serving cause. They hang on 'til may and we keep the 6 points taken off them.

I agree the last 15 minutes there was everyone but him behind the ball. The ball comes to a defender who whacks it up the pitch to Cole, he has his back to goal tries to hold it up but for who. Or the ball comes to a defender who whacks it up the pitch but no where near Cole. No one says Green had a bad game although I can't remember him making a save and the ball it the woodwork twice.

All about right, maybe a touch harsh on Vaz Te. Green got a good score although he really didn't do anything. If you want to be hypercritical I feel he does communicate enough with the defence. Often Cardiff (and other teams throughout the season) aimlessly lobbed the ball into the box. There was absolutely no danger - Faye and Tomkins are very strong in the air, however the defenders headed the ball back into the firing line when the best thing to do would be to leave it and let it go out for a goal kick. Green is the best placed to know this he should take charge. Maybe something for Downes to work on after lunch.

West Ham Till I Die : Cardiff City Pay Back!

How I saw it West Ham played a similar way to the way England played against Holland. Collinson and Lansbury stayed very central and Nolan pushed forward quite often. Noble buzzed around putting in a lot of work. This in theory allows the left back and right back to go on runs, McCartney more than O'Brien as he had cover from Vaz Te who put in a shift at the back. This worked because Cardiff (unlike the Dutch) were close to being rubbish, they hardly ever went out wide more or less everything went through the middle which was bread and butter for Faye (who was immense) and Tomkins. Nolan and Noble certainly can work together. I would but Taylor on the left instead of O'Brien but keep the rest as it is. Morrison on the bench to replace Vaz Te if things are going well.

About fair though I do think it is a tad generous with regards to Tomkins. I think he does extremely well in defence. However I just don't think he is used to being in the opponents third of the pitch. He short passing leaves me thinking he is not comfortable there.

Slightly off subject. During all the hoohaa of the transfer window Christopher Samba was hot property or so it seemed by the media. I for one thought he'd be an excellent addition. Now I see he has moved to Anzhi Makhachkala. Okay maybe it is a team on the up and Hiddink is the new manager but surely the only reason you'd go there is for a fat pay cheque. What I'm getting at is it is no wonder he did join anyone in England. Hope the lad George John gets a go if Faye or Tomkins can't make it today. I love this club.
