I kinda agree. Like when William Buckley sold his soul to the statist because he believed that Big Government was the only way to defeat the Soviets. Buckley moved his new righties to the left and embrassed leftist Keynesian Economics in order to ramp of defense spending. Jefferson's answer to the hijacking and murder of US merchantmen was clearly within the bounds of the Constitution. He did not pre-emptively sneak into the harbor in Tripoli and bomb willy-nilly the entire city before the muslims had done anything to US merchantmen. Paul would have done the same thing as Jefferson did. Jefferson and Adams tried diplomacy and when they failed, then he sent the marines.

I would not have used Somalia as your free market example. but Hong Kong. Milton Friedman did a whole series on Capitalism and Free Markets on TV, maybe PBS back in the 70's. But the other point is that a free market cannot function without a "destruction" mechanism where malinvestment is washed out of the system so new capital can find a home. Otherwise, if the buyers and sellers are unable to settle on a price because a central bank is trying to reinflate that particular bubble then cash will sit on the sidelines.

Thank god for Ron Paul. No one is afraid he is going to get the nomination. The Republican machine has already decided that Romney is going to get the nomination. Even libs would prefer to vote Romney over Obama in some cases. But its his message of small government, less warmongering and no foreign aid to any country that appeals to young, old and active duty military people that has neocons running scared.
