I distinctly remember the first time I heard of the Toast: I was working at a summer camp in 2013 and I was enjoying a rare day off, sitting on the couch at my honorary mom's house. I was in google reader (RIP -- the end days!) and there was a post from the Hairpin about this new site, the Toast. Huh, I thought. The premise sounds good and Nicole and Mallory are fucking great. Sounds similar to the Hairpin, but ok, I'll keep it in mind! Reader, I have not looked back, and the Toast has held the strongest place in my heart since that day. Thank you all for everything!

Welp, I thought I was doing ok, but I read this post and started crying at my desk. Here we go!

Thank you so much for creating this site, Nicole and Mallory, it has been a joy to read your thoughts for three years (!!!!) and to be a part of what you have chosen to share with us. Thank you for making the safest and most wonderful space on the internet I never knew I wanted. Thank you for being your perfect selves and for encouraging us all to be our own perfect selves, too. Thank you to everyone who has been a part of this community, it has been a joy and an honor. I appreciate all of you so much and I wish you all the best (though you can also find me on twitter under the same name for continued yelling). I have learned so much from everyone here and will treasure it always.

Also I am seriously considering getting a Toast tattoo ("a willing foe, and sea room").
