Sure, I'll stop making my car payment! That will sure help the economy and that's a real responsible thing to do! BTW, we are not Obama supporters.

Funny thing is he didn't go looking for a union job. He did what he had to do to support his family. This is the job he ended up with. He's not the kind of guy that's going to live off of everybody else and their tax dollars. He lost his previous good paying job due to the economy and immediatly started looking for any and all jobs. We were fortunate that he found the job at coke with good benefits. Union or not he could have cared less. Yes, I live in the real world. He lost his job he was responsible and found a new one and wasn't picky! We are both very responsible people. We are 27 and have a home (our 3rd one) and 3 beautiful daughters. We absolutely would go get another part time job if we had to. The point is that we would rather spend time with our children then work even more. But if they do succeed in raising how much we pay in premiums we will get another job. We're not the type of people that will just sit back and lose everything and live off of everybody else we will do whatever we have to do! I work full time btw and have been checking this during my breaks!

Not much gets through that thick skull does it? You seem like you're self employed only because you couldn't get a job working for a place like Coke. You seem pretty bitter about unions and sounds to me like you are jealous. Also, you should really brush up on your spelling, grammar and math skills! Maybe then you could get a decent job.

Are you blind? Did you not see the big bold letters I typed that said that I understand that others pay more? I even said that we are willing to pay more than $30/mo but also as a family of 5 with a mortgage and car payments and childcare to pay we can't just pull an extra $210 out of our a**! BTW, your world must be pretty small if you think that the opinions on this board represent the majority of people in the "real world". Out on the picket line the MAJORITY of people honked their horns and waved in support and even brought food to the men. I saw it first hand. It's all these people on here all day that are just jealous and have nothing better to do. They would take a UNION job at Coke in a split second if they were good enough to be offered it!

You know what? You know nothing. They have taken unpaid days off of work too. I can't tell you how many times my husband had been asked if somebody would volunteer to take a day off and they're not asking for a cost of living increase! Don't bother commenting if you don't know what is actually going on!

Oh man, you have been all over these Coke stories like you have a grudge against them or something. Are you unemployed? Seems like you have a lot of time on your hands. I too am a wife of one of these employees. I will show you the before and after. We have been paying $30/mo for our family of 5. That would be increasing to $240/mo. Yes, I UNDERSTAND THAT IS STILL NOT AS MUCH AS SOME PEOPLE PAY! We have been there. My husband was unemployed for a while before he got this job. We were paying over $600 a month just for 3 of us. The point is that part of the reason he took this job was that even though it was only paying 1/2 of what he made at his previous job it made up for it in the $570/mo we'd be saving on medical insurance. We barely make it by as it is and we are willing to pay more than $30/mo for medical but $240 is a big jump when you don't have that budgeted.

Hey WISE guy! Pull out a calculator...now type in 40.00 then hit the "x" and then hit 8-0-0 % and tell me what you get?? Does it still look like a 180? I didn't think so....then ponder this for a second...not everybody is a family of 3...try a family of 4 or 5 or 6 even? SHUT YOUR MOUTH IF YOU DON'T KNOW THE FACTS OR CAN'T EVEN MANAGE TO USE A CALCULATOR, NO WONDER YOU KNOW SO MUCH ABOUT BEING UNEMPLOYED, WITH MATH SKILLS LIKE THAT I CAN SEE WHY!

It's all in the wording.... You're right, that is what Coke is claiming, that it's actually furture employees wouldn't get retirement benefits, but what they FAIL to say is that they can't "grandfather" people in. So, not offering retirement benefits to future employees is REALLY not offering benefits to current retirees as well.

How do you know you've worked harder than a Coke driver? Have you been a Coke driver before? Obviously not...or you would know that they deliver more than a single product and they often work 60 hours a week and would actually be working more than 60hrs a week if there wasn't a rule against it. Who's arrogant? That's right...

Some of you are acting like these Coke workers are not human...have you stopped to think that maybe, just maybe some of these employees were once unemployed as well and happened to find a job at Coke and one of the main benefits for taking that job was because of the good health care? Well, as the wife of one of the Coke employees I can tell you that my husband was unemployed after having a previous job that paid almost twice as much as his Coke job and we were struggling and HE went without medical just so we could pay the $600 a month to make sure that our 2 children didn't go uninsured. When he found this job at Coke, making only about $10 an hour BUT it came with good medical benefits, he took it! So, we are not thrilled about being on Strike but we also can't afford the 800% hike in healthcare AND it is not nice to take the benefits away from the reitred workers!

cme-don't always assume! Well, obviously with this guy it was his fault. But in my case, when we hit a pole...it was not our fault! We were ran off the road. Completely sober, my husband driving, me (5 months pregnant) in the passenger seat, and our 1 year old daughter in the back seat. It was a 2 lane road and a car in the opposite lane coming head-on started drifting over into our lane. My husband had no choice but to swerve off the road or to be in a head on collision going 40 mph. He obviously didn't expect we would hit a power pole because you don't have that much time to react. It just happened to be that when we swerved to avoid the accident there was a pole there. Oh, and BTW, the person that ran us off the road...didn't stop...and was never caught! Woodinville-Tell me about it! PSE tried sending us a bill to replace the pole for nearly $25k! We didn't end up having to pay for it though because it was decided that the accident was not our fault. But wow, before that I had NO IDEA they cost so much!

I've been in a car accident involving power lines. We hit a powerpole and the pole broke clean in half and came crashing down on the hood of our car along with live powerlines whipping around and the transformer also blewup and leaked all over our car. However, I jumped right out of the car (I was the passenger) because my 1 year old daughter was screaming in the backseat and I didn't know yet if she was injured. The instant I got out of the car I saw some lines swaying above my head and my husband was screaming at me to get back in the car. Fortunately, we did not get injured but I did learn a lesson that day. Never get out of the car. It's a miracle I didn't step right out onto a powerline and get electrocuted.
