A very good theory. Capello's not naive, he knew exactly what he was doing in disagreeing with his employers and what the consequences would be. The ideal solution would have been for Terry to resign as Captain when charged, a la Chris Huhne, rather than leave it to others to force the issue, then when found innocent, if that is the outcome, he could have returned as the "wronged" man. If found guilty he's finished as skipper anyway.

I think you're being a bit harsh on Hammerhead, I'd score him at least an 7, his timing and interpretation of the music were excellent, facial expression admittedly limited and could brush up on his technique, but he's only a youngster and I'm sure if Sam persists with him he'll come good over the season, as will his fellow debutant, Danny Potts, who had a solid game.

It's refreshing someone can talk about the illness so honestly, which helps those of us who are lucky enough to have not suffered understand it a bit more. Respect for that and good luck. RIP Speedo, who judging by the radio interviews on 606 was very highly regarded by players and fans alike.

I'm glad someone else agrees with me, Keith. How anyone could possibly say Nolan was anonymous confounds me. Leaving aside the great technique for the goal and his industry in midfield, his enthusiasm and organisation at corners and throw-ins, is crucial to us. I sit close to the pitch and Nolan is continually talking, getting others to mark up etc. Basically he's right pain in the a*se to the referee, the opposition and, sometimes his team-mates - just what we needed after last season's, where our captain really was anonymous.

I don't know, but I would imagine G&S told SA that his main priority is to get promotion to the PL and, at present, he's doing a pretty good job in doing what he was appointed to do. It's a bit unfair to say he doesn't give youth a chance, Baldock, Reid, Tomkins, Collison, Sears have all featured regularly and all are 23 or under. We'd all like our home-grown to feature, but quite often we over-estimate their abilities, because of that wish. I tend to feel SA would play them if he felt they could do a job in the Championship, but he clearly doesn't, and it's his job that's on the line if we don't get promoted. As for the England job, I don't think even SA believes he has any chance, at least this time around as, at best, he'll be a Championship winning manager in the summer and the FA will not be appointing on that basis.

Faye was superb - not only skill but desire as well, ably supported by Greeno at the end. Cole's movement, not often one gets to say that, was the difference in the second half for me. And like I suggested two weeks ago Jack will get better with fitness.

Well said, and don't worry, you are in the majority. There's a vocal minority who will moan about practically anything, from the owners, to the manager, and sometimes the players. It's difficult not to react to their bile, on G&S or whoever, but they just want to be noticed, poor things. You will notice the people in question rarely have any positive views, and I doubt even attend the matches. As someone said, it's the Talksport effect - any comment must be controversial and upset someone, so as to develop an argument, whether it be right or wrong.

Probably agree Jack's not at his best, but he played just a couple of games last season and is just getting his fitness back. I think he's improved each game and was pretty solid today and with another few games he'll be back to his best form.

Fans jeering the team off? I sit in the BM Lower and if I had heard anyone jeering, which I didn't, I would have asked them what planet they're on! OK the game was dire, but we won 1-0 and were never really under pressure. We have to accept that to be at the top sometimes you have to win ugly.
