And I refuse to call SMG2, NSMBWii, Metroid and Zelda just a "bone".
Not to mention that the 3rd parties are stepping up to deliver good games like Kingdom Hearts for DS and Silent Hill for Wii.
Even Ubisoft are going to release cool and impressive games.
I would have understood your claim this past months, but I don't see the relevance now.
So I respectfully disagree.

But still, they need to change one of thouse Toads.
Wario & Waluigi anyone? Maybe Yoshi? Maybe choosing Toads is just an option and I'm hoping for that.

Doesn't the Mario series has enough characters?
Why give two players the exact same character?

I think woman in videogames are doing better than ever.
MGS3's The Boss had probably the strongest female personality in videogame history. Very hard to find in the videogame universe.
About Zelda, she has always ben brave, but she's become badass from the 64 era untill now.
She had a ninja alter-ego in OoT and she was a pirate in WW.
And I should mention Midna, since her role in TP was way more than the regular a kidnapped princess.
The female assassins from No More Heroes and the Beauty & the Beast unit from MGS4 were anything but helpless good-looking ladys.
The point is, feminism in viedogames is very narrow these days. You could have said it like 15 years ago, but women in videogame are having the same treatment as men these days.
There are exceptions, of course, but I believe there will always be.
"no games ever had a female protagonist (Final Fantasy XIII, Mirror's Edge, or Perfect Dark)."
Metroid had Samus and Tomb Raider had Lara. Just pointing that out. :p

I want to have fun. If I didn't I wouldn't be bitting my nails for the arrival of for Punch Out!!
But she needs to define what "fun" is.
For her, fun might be sitting around in the living room playing party games with her friends.
For me fun is enjoying the gameplay, music, story, etc. of a videogame I've awaited for years.
The comments of this lady really put me to think and I don't like what I think she is saying: "Jump onboard, core gamer, 'cause Nintendo is selling-out!"

Back in the 80's there was no internet worldwide, that doesn't mean you can take it away now in 2009 and nobody would bother.

They seem to put alot of effort and advertisment when they're making a Wii-(insert name here) title.
But when they release a Mario Kart or a Metroid Prime, they barely even advertise it.
And I'm just like you. The only game I've bought since Brawl was Wario Land.
And I'm the biggest fanboy you could find. The only console I've bought that wasn't from Nintendo was the PS2.
But right now, I'm not so sure about buying the next Nintendo console at all.

In my opinion, Nintendo should put more effort into making outfits to Mario characters that match the spinoff game they are appearing in. Make characters look like racers in Mario Kart, and make them look like baseball players in Mario Baseball too, and so on.
That would breathe some life into the characters and their standard outfits would not be so overused.

Mario is in the same iconic level as Mikey Mouse and Bugs Bunny.
They all have in common that their early models used to change from time to time.
But when they reached the iconic status, the three now have remain the same.
I'm not against the idea of a cel-shaded Mario game, but just like Mario & Luigi and Paper Mario, it would have to be a new Mario series instead of a makeover to the iconic hero.
Oh and just for the record, Galaxy had new models. Though they were'nt that different, to be fair.
To me, Mario looked like he was designed by Sonic Team since he had arms longer than they should be just like Sonic characters.
