Big Government : Olympia Snowe to Retire from Senate

The most disgusting part of it all is that she is able to keep the 3+ million she had in her re-election coffers to spend as she sees fit. Its her personal money now.

Breitbart.com : Man to face Alabama trial in wife\'s diving death

How exactly does Alabama have jurisdiction to try a man who has already done his prison time for the offense? Aside from the double jeopardy arguments, exactly how are they able to try someone for a crime committed in Australian waters? I find what he did to be completely deplorable, and in fact, I think Australia should have exacted a much higher price from him, but I simply cannot see how the state of Alabama has any right to go after him. I doubt, under the circumstances that any insurance company would pay any claim to him, and would force him to sue them, at which point a jury would throw out his claim pretty quickly.

Breitbart.tv : NPR Reporter, Carney Not Sure Congressional Insider Trading Legal

The fourteenth amendment guarantees equal treatment under the law. If I'm ever on a jury for an insider trading case the guy walks due to the fact that congress isn't subject to current insider trading laws. Jury nullification, pure and simple. If I was a defense lawyer defending someone for this, I'd raise this argument in my closing statement, or at least allude to it, as much as a judge would let you get away with. No law should be valid, that congress is not subject to. I guess that makes me an official member of the sovereign citizens club.

Big Government : Why Many Young People Love Ron Paul and Why Many Older People Despise Him

About half of what Ron Paul says makes sense, and the other half is so detached from reality that he is indeed, a danger to himself and this country. Mainly my differences relate to his pacifist, isolationist policies. We no longer live in the times where we could be protected by two oceans, and could let the rest of the world kill each other. World war 2's extremes, according to most experts, could have been minimized by proper intervention, or the threat thereof, at the proper time. For all you Paul-heads, you can attempt to dissect my opinion, in your lawyerly ways, but it won't change my thoughts on the danger I believe Paul represents to our country. We tried pacifism and isolationism during World wars 1 and 2.

Breitbart.com : Congress tries to police itself on insider trading

As I recall, it was an even more slimy arrangement than the simple description you've given. As I understood it, a business insider sold him some land at well below cost, and he used his political clout to have the environmental regulations relaxed and also he was able to steer the highway into coming through the particular area where he had land. The height of chutzpah. He was re-elected after it all became public, so the citizens of Nevada who re-elected this slime ball have no right to ever complain about corruption in congress, as they were willing accomplices. To those of you who voted against this slime ball, you have every right to complain about the corruption.

There's virtually no way to enforce them not using insider information, unless they all put their investments into truly blind trusts. Then, should they be caught doing or participating in any kind of business transaction, they should automatically be removed from congress and their investments are subject to seizure, after a due process hearing.

Breitbart.com : FBI seeking social media monitoring tool

How about, if I were a terrorist and I wanted to communicate with my brethren, that I'd not use twitter, or any other social media, given how we know they're working on being able to read and decipher it in real time. I think I'd open a hotmail account, and write my message, and save it as a draft. My compatriots would simply know the login/password for the email account, and could read the draft, without it ever, theoretically crossing the internet. There are many other ways, some more sophisticated, but you get the idea. Its hard to keep up with these snakes, and you essentially have to predict, ahead of time, how they'll communicate so that you can be ready to intercept it.

Big Government : Arizona House Speaker to 'Put Some Light on Fast and Furious'

The criminality of this government from Obamao on down through Holder, and lower are not eligible for immunity even if Obamao grants everyone a blanket pardon. The reason being, is if Arizona brings charges, it is a state charge, over which the president has no jurisdiction. The first place I'd start looking, is at the Attorney General Cunningham who plead the fifth amendment. It would seem as if he's being offered a new job, to take the heat for the lie Holder told, and that there's a cover-up underway, orchestrated by Obamao. Take a look at the new job he is leaving for. Get his new firm to answer some questions, such as: Did the Obama administration have any communication with Cunninghams new employer, and what was the nature of any communications. Its pretty obvious that a cover-up is underway, and once people start realizing they can go to jail for a long time, for conspiracy and obstruction, they will begin to talk to prosecutors. It can't hurt looking into the connection.

They would have us believe it is so complicated and that they must take time to "weigh" the pros and cons. Horse hockey, two simple words: "Blind Trust" once you enter service, and you can cash out when you leave. Not only are these cretins getting the huge benefit of insider trading, but when they call their broker to take a position, their broker also knows something is up, and more than likely lets his "preferred" clients know that Congressman John Doe just bought 10,000 shares of company x. Not to hard to figure out that there are far more than just these congressmen feeding at this trough. Its long past time to make them accountable to all the laws, that we the common folk are governed by.

It would seem that the arms race moves on, with each side looking for the next "big thing". Prior to WW2, there as an argument taking place in the Navy between the battleship guys and the aircraft carrier guys. Once Pearl Harbor happened, the argument was settled. Fortunately, we had the capability to rebuild our fleet, which we no longer have. That said, the next "big thing" will be orbital space stations which will fire objects at orbital velocities towards the surface of the earth. There is virtually no way to defend againts them, at least at this time. Just how much damage would a crowbar moving at, say 10 miles per second do? Probably enough to destroy almost any ship, but if not, the object can be increased in size. Multiple strikes are also an option. Even metallic golf balls fired at orbital velocity are going to cause serious problems. It will be the next frontier in the arms race, unfortunately Obama has walked away from it, and ceded military superiority to the Russians and Chinese.

Breitbart.com : US seeking to \'close down\' Iran central bank

Let's all face a few hard facts. America no longer has the unity of purpose to conduct a long, hard, drawn-out war where we actually take significant civilian casualties. Our culture would turn on itself, were we to attack Iran, and if the Iranian reprisal killed thousands of Americans. We would be quickly formed into two camps, one in which the people who believed we deserved it, and the other camp would contain those that would want to nuke Iran and be done with them. As the majority of Americans can agree, both positions are extreme, and are not exactly what we'd like as the outcome of an attack on Iran and the corresponding retaliation. If Iran used weapons of mass destruction, such as dirty nuclear devices and/or chemical and biological weapons against our civilian population, and killed millions, I believe that our military would become unhinged and strike back with nukes, regardless of the civilian attempts to find a diplomatic solution. After all, many military families would be wiped out by these attacks. Then again, if we were to strike Iran, without declaring all out war to change their regime, we'd all but invite an eventual nuclear attack against us, when Iran did develop a nuclear device. It might take them a decade after our bombing, but you can rest assured, they would nuke us. The choices, essentially come down to 2 simple choices: 1) Do nothing and allow them to continue on their path towards nuclear weapons, and not in any way jeapardizing our immediate safety, or 2) Engage in all out war with Iran, with far more casualties and costs than Iraq. We would need to prosecute this war, as we would have, had we had to invade Japan. It would require complete and utter destruction of Iran, and probably would cost 100's of thousands of Americans troops, and millions of dead Iranian civilians and troops. Or, we could make the case, as with Japan, that invasion would cost millions of American lives and Iranian civilian lives such that we decide to use tactical nuclear weapons to destroy Iranian military capacity. It would probably be necessary to use tactical nukes, to end the war quickly before the political fallout from the war affected our country's politics, such that we negotiate an end to hostilities before the regime is changed. The first option, is simple, and frankly is the easy way out, in that we wouldn't have to deal with worrying about dirty nuke attacks on our country, nor bio attacks against our cities. The second option, would most likely result in all out war which would kill 100's of thousands of Americans and millions of Iranians. If we try for a middle approach and bomb their program and delay it, we will eventually suffer 10's of millions of deaths when they get around to nuking us in retaliation. The first option seems most immediately appealing in that nobody dies, and frankly, that is probably the choice that our current president will take. I also believe that attempting to "live" with a nuclear Iran will only lead to millions of American casualties, as I don't believe the Iranian government will be rational partners in a negotiated peace. It appears to me, that all out war is the only logical way to completely remove an impending threat to our survival as a country and as a civilization, because if we don't choose the all-out war option, all of the other choices will lead to our country being nuked at some point in the future. I wish my analysis is wrong, but I am cynical and believe its an "us or them" scenario and half measures will only reap eventual destruction of our country. Its akin to the Romans fighting the Carthaginians for the last time, and deciding to lay such waste to the country that no major civilization could rise from the ashes (and salt) to threaten their country again. I wish we were dealing with rational people, in our government and in Iran's government, but given the political realities of both sides positions, I fear we are headed for millions of dead people on this planet as a result of this soon to be calamity. The big question, I guess, is what will be the identity of the millions of dead? American or Iranian? As I stated at the outset, I don't believe our country posses the unity of purpose to protect itself, by being ruthless enough to permanently remove the existential threat we face.

Big Government : Rush Limbaugh: 'Ron Paul Kills the Conservative Vote'

There will be no change in this country's path towards self-destruction, regardless of who is elected. One candidate or another, the end will come sooner if the dems are elected, and it will be more dragged out if the the republican is elected. The government will eventually collapse, once it is no longer able to tax the citizenry further and the interest on the national debt reaches a critical point. But, there is one major difference, as far as I can see amongst all the candidates, in that if we elect Ron Paul, or a democrat, their military downsizing and isolationist tendencies will have us all speaking Arabic when the time comes for the melt down of our government. Ron Paul and the democrats are delusional about foreign policy and how to deal with the utter hatred shown towards our country by our sworn enemies.

Big Peace : 5-Jan-12 World View -- China's Aggressive Military Buildup Forces U.S. Change of Strategy

Long range strategic thinking is needed to deal with China, as that is exactly what they're doing that will cause our defeat. First off, we must develop our own energy supplies, within our own borders, creating jobs and revenue here. It will also stem the flow of US dollars overseas to despot regimes. Next, its long past time to tell the Japanese what a threat China is to them, and to allow them to defend themselves as they see fit. Next, we need to begin to actually plan for a scenario(s) where China defeats us, militarily, and come up with strategies to make their victories hollow. Along those lines, we need to develop an asymmetrical warfare capability designed for China's weaknesses. We need to begin to curtail their economic might, through import reductions by any means necessary. It is through their economic and industrial clout, that they will defeat us. It is time to take that advantage away from them, or at the minimum, to marginalize it. If we don't take these steps, at the minimum, you might as well start learning Chinese, to serve our new masters.

Breitbart.com : Police: Body found at Wash. park is that of gunman

Yeah, sure, the law allowing people to carry firearms in national parks is the cause of this. How many people believe that he would have obeyed such a law, after he had shot other people. If anything, armed citizens would at least have had a fair chance to defend themselves from such a madman. It is an outrage that members of the Park service would use this tragedy to lobby for their political pet causes. I guess from the standpoint of Natural Parks law enforcement that they are best at defending the public, but given the response of this officer, that is certainly a questionable position to take. All I can say is how dare they attempt to use such a tragedy for their causes.

Big Government : Supreme Court to Consider AZ’s Illegal Immigration Law

Both cases are "no-win" situations for Obama, and here's why: Immigration: If they rule Arizona has the right to enforce their law, Obama cannot interfere with Arizona's enforcement. If they rule Arizona can't enforce their law, and the US has the only authority to deport, then the US Citizenry will be so incensed, just months before an election - Checkmate, in either direction. Obamacare: Same deal, they rule its unconstitutional and that's the end of Obama's "signature" legislative accomplishment for his one-term presidency. Many dems walked off a cliff on that one, and will be livid with him. If it is found constitutional, the citizenry will be so incensed, that they will do what they did in 2010, but on a grander scale. The democrats will lose control of the senate, the house will stay republican, and they will lose the White House. Checkmate. Obama has been a fool in the way he went about the healthcare law, and the immigration lawsuit was poorly thought out on a political basis. His refusal to enforce existing law, is impeachable, but we know that the Dems hold the senate. If somehow, they republicans can run the table in the next election, and if Obama somehow manages to win re-election, he will be impeached. Moreover, he has been a virtual lame-duck president since passage of the health care bill, such that he has to legislate by executive order. All of his rule-making and exective orders and signing statements can be undone quite quickly by the next republican president, without any congressional intervention. He has over-reached to enact the healthcare bill, and it is shocking that so many lawyers could write such constitutionally dubious legislation. Why the mandate wasn't enforced by offering tax credits to people for purchasing insurance, instead of fines, is beyond me. If they gave anyone who purchased their own insurance a large enough tax credit, kind of like the personal exemption, people would automatically enroll in health insurance as a matter of financial prudence. They should all be locked up for treason, and since we know they won't they should all be sued for legal malpractice.

Big Government : Et Tu, Beck? - Part III: Erratic Multimedia Star Pulls Race Card Again

I can see that his comments could be taken in both ways, depending on context. Frankly, I agree with most here, that Newt is a man with lofty, "pie-in-the-sky" ideas, some of which are good, but usually they are not very practical. I can't imagine how it would be a good idea for Newt to be president. He has shown himself to be incapable of leading, while he was in the house. He was among the most corrupt republicans that have held office in my memory, and he was totally morally bankrupt. Yeah, I know the other choice is Romney, whom I also catogorically reject. Its time for the conservatives in the party to find a true conservative hero, and rally around him, and prepare to draft him at the convention. Its too late to mount a serious challenge in the primaries, but we know that many if not all of the delegates will be conservative, and if either Romney or Gingrich show up at the convention, we need to have someone ready, someone like Rubio or Christy, but with more seasoning and experience. I'd take Christie in a second if I could but I don't like his fatalistic stance on immigration, where he said its pretty much a done deal that we can't deport the illegals in our country. I reject that. Marco Rubio, in my mind, is almost perfect, but he would be cast by the dems as too young and inexperienced. I think he could beat Obama, and would utterly destroy him in a debate. We need to build a groundswell for a truly conservative candidate.

Do we have any adults working in our government anymore? It is utterly beyond belief that we wouldn't have some system in place to deny the Iranians any technological education from the downing of the drone. Perhaps a self-destruct mechanism might be a good future improvement to these and other top secret projects. If the drone doesn't hear an encrypted specialized communication from us, within a certain time window, it self-destructs. Its really not that hard to come up with, much easier than the stealth technology that the Russians and Chinese have just gained from the downing. Also, how do we know that Russian and/or Chinese technicians weren't involved in the downing of this drone? It seems as though the Iranians (or whoever) were able to jam our control signal, and over-ride it with their control signal. Does anyone legitimately believe that the Iranians possess this level of electronic warfare prowess? Many questions need to be asked about this affair, and many heads should roll within our intelligence agencies for almost criminal recklessness with such top secret technology. Perhaps we have a mole within our own intelligence agency who passed on the information that the Iranians (aka Chinese and Russians) needed to subvert our control of this drone. Moreover, this calls into question many of our other ways of communication, particularly Navy Fleet communications. If the Russians/Chinese/whoever, can break into our secure data communications, they could cause all kinds of issues when it comes time for our screening vessels, through centralized coordination, to protect our aircraft carriers. I am incensed as to how this could happen, as should be every tax payer. The cost to fix this problem, and correct any technological advances the Chinese and Russians are going to achieve, is going to be astronomical.

Big Peace : Four Letters to Remember During This Newt-Bashing Fad: I-R-A-N

I like Newt, and am not so fond of Romney, but I do believe the press will be able to destroy Newt with all his corruption issues. Nancy may not out Newt now, but you know the information in those files will find their way to the New York Times, or some other mouthpiece of the DNC.
