So, real question -- is it unclear so far how their memories are doing better? I'm wondering if a comic didn't post right.

Sadly, I was never a FF guy. My brother played all the old ones, the NES titles, on an emulator in college as though it was part of his formal education. I don't even know if he was crazy about them -- I'd check in with him and asked how he felt, and he'd respond really lukewarmly. But despite that, he played most of them I think! I also hate underwater levels. Something about the loss of control and having to manage oxygen. You could replace that dwindling number with anything else -- fuel, bullets, whatever -- and conceptually I'd be okay with it. But once it's "breath," I panic.

28 Plays Later : Episode 10 - The One About Fallout Everything

Maybe that's why I liked VATS so much -- it did let you look the enemies over. I forgot that one of my favorite (?) devices in Bethesda games is when initiating conversation, the camera changes to focus in on the person you're talking to. The first time this happened with a ghoul in town, the camera pushed in on his scary face and I felt that panic rise. It's like that with VATS too -- "here's a good look at what you're up against." Combat is a sort of conversation too.

Marcus Levon = Mark Levin, a conservative radio host. I used to tune into him when I lived in Dallas. I don't consider him at all indicative of a conservative mindset; he is a radical, incendiary conservative in the vein of Rush Limbaugh.

I dunno, Paul, I think if I had encountered that green area I might have said "oh, a green repaint of the same gray low plateaus and dry canals of the early game." Nonetheless, I did like it, even though I did complain that the combat was Arkham City-y.

28 Plays Later : Episode 8 - The One About The Witcher 3

It's okay for GTA to still have that sensibility, for its fans who are certainly innumerable, but I do have a pretty negative reaction to it now. The piss-beer thing is the least least least of my problem with GTA V. A very early mission tree involves you having to drive a paparazzo on the back of your motorcycle while he screeches invective about some movie starlet's vagina at her car. Then, you (the character) have to film her getting banged on her private property, and you (the player) have to watch the scene in first-person through the viewfinder. It's supposed to be hilariously coarse, and it's just gross. It was interesting, because there your character isn't a creep necessarily. But to take any other action besides doing what the quest-giver asks would just shut down the game progressing -- so the writers had to strike a weird balance: even your character finds this guy disgusting, but he can never say "no way! I'm not working with you." Instead he says "huh, well, okay man, whatever's cool to you, see ya." And the missions can continue. I dunno. I felt like... they were trying to sit on the fence, and call it a comment on pop culture, when they could have just made their main character a murderous pervert and been done with it. Instead the character does EXACTLY what a murderous creep would do, the same number of times, except instead of saying "I can't wait to do this again!" he says "whoa, that was sure weird!" The radio stations seemed to be less interesting and coarse for the sake of being coarse too. It reminds me of... when a super-far-left or -right-leaning pundit will make a dirty pun out of an opponent's name? Like... they have to say "Snore-ack Blow-bama" or "Flush Limp-baugh" or stuff like that. I guess they can say "it's commentary!" but it's just the lowest common denominator pretending to be discursive.

Maybe I should stop harping on the reporter punch in ME3 then, because I have another example -- students of ME will know the moment far better than me, but there was a paragon/renegade choice in the first game involving Wrex and some decision that needed to be made. It was getting tense, and finally I had the option to act. I chose renegade to settle Wrex down, and the next thing I know, Wrex is dead by either my hand or an ally's. I was so shocked. I didn't replay that choice, because I figured I'd live with it, but before that I felt like there was ZERO indication this disagreement would be solved with a bullet.

Like Man At Work said, Zane, Iris and Doc have been acting as informal hems for one another, since Iris learned in Book 2 that you tend to only forget events from your own life, not others' lives. Additionally, Zane learned in Book 2 that being afraid can make memories return.
