Ya know, if you think about it- Russo is the reason for the death of WCW. But not in the way most people think. Russo's writing in the WWF caused WCW ratings to plummet. When Russo joined WCW, it was already a sinking ship (a big reason why he joined; he saw it as a challenge).

Of course there are a million more factors, but just a fun way of thinking.

Russo's seriously a genius. So sick of all the naysayers; the same morons who were creaming their pants whenever Raw came on in the late 90's. 'Oh, McMahon heavily filtered his work.' Yeah? Is that why McMahon is doing such a great job filtering absolute garbage (written by a team of recent college grads and veterans (ass-kissers) with old school mentalities) for the last ten-plus years? Right.

If Russo booked the Invasion, he would have done it right. Or at the very least made it incredible captivating. He would have avoided the cluster fuck it ended up being. The opportunity to write a story arc for biggest thing to ever happen in pro wrestling was flushed down the toilet due to poor handling.

Everything he said in the short interview made sense. And you'd be a goddamn liar to say that witnessing his proposed scenario wouldn't shoot chills down your spine.

Russo might have put himself mentally in Rock or Austin's boots, but only to write the storylines. He didn't tell them how to act or what to say. Check out the Bret Hart documentary Wrestling With Shadows or even Beyond the Mat. You can see Russo and Ferarra going over promos, but never handing them a word for word script.
