First of all I would like to say that I really liked the lecture, about LGBT. I think that it would be really difficult if there parents are really religious. Al the parents have a dream of having kids and raising them up in a good environment. Obviously it would be a lot harder to come out if your parents are straight because they are expecting their kids to have a girlfriend and some day after their studies get a good job and marry to there lover. But if there kid comes out and tells them he is gay or whatever else, they would have their dream or their expectations, lost. There would be a lot of other things that would affect this. there would also be the sisters or brothers of this person. They also would have there different view about it. What if the parents would accept the kid as he is, but the siblings wouldn't? that would be different also.
First of all I will like to say that I really enjoyed the class on Thursday, the way he conducted the class and gave us. I really liked the exercise with the bidding, He showed us that when a group of people act together they would most of the time become the winners. He showed us this example in order to introduce the topic, which was that the different races hate on each other, and it is impossible for everybody to act together, and if that would of happen it would be a whole different society. In regards to this question about our mom, significant other or our child. I really thought 1the way most half of the class did. I would save my child just for the simple reason is that my mom and spouse had have lived their life and my child would have a future ahead of him. However once I heard different opinions from the class I kind of changed my perspective because My mom gave me birth and that is something sacred to me. I mean in that instance I wouldnt know what to do I would probably stay and die with them. Like it is so difficult to even imagine this. Also I think it would depend on the age of my child, like I mean everybody imagines this and imagines a little baby who hasnt lived. but imagine if the child would be a teenager who has had a reckless life. I think this would really depend on my childs age, I dont know its very difficult. I think nobody can pick a person, I mean all of them mean everything to you. I would prefer dying with all of them then saving any of them.
After the class that Sam had on Christian Invaders I was really moved by the experiences of the veterans that stepped up to the front of the classroom. However I really felt bad for the girl that just wanted to express her opinion or just had an honest question. Her question was if the 9/11 had been a conspiracy. I thought that this was a really good question for the class because many of us do not believe the government, I perseonally had the same question she had, but i didnt expect that it would be asked in class. When the question was asked the veteran was really moved by it, and completely turned down the girl who had the honest question. He shared a personal story about his best friend that was killed at the pentagon by the plane. He said very firmly that the attack wasnt a conspiracy. I personally do not believe him, I mean there is corruption in every government, and certainly on ours. When I went to my discussion group today, a veteran soldier from the war explained to us the different tactics and all that soldiers do when in combat. It was really moving also, he also said that he didnt believe the government and that he did research and many of the pieces of information and of what happened that day didnt made any sense, and that it was possible that it had been a conspiracy. In my opinion i also think that because ive watched many documentaries on how this happened and clearly there is info left out of what really happened. I mean how would a single plane bring down a tremendous structure made of steel? .. but anyways my taughts about war are not very accurate since i dont know much about it, but one thing I believe is that the U.S had to set up something in order to bring back oil. I believe that our government is sometimes run by the big companies big businesses at the end of the day.
If it wasnt for that Soc 119 lecture about how job recruiters or job interviewers of any kind, pick some persons based on there looks i would of never thought that this really existed, now that i think of it, I believe it is a great problem for society. I mean how are you going to pick a person who is white that just barely passed high school over a black person who is well educated. Unfortunately this type of racial discrimination exists and is one of the most common as Sam pointed out. I think that these studies should be done more frequently, or at least with alot more people. I think job interviews should not exist, if a person is really looking for a professional one that can serve well his or her necessities then application and interviewing should be done electronically in ordered to not be discriminated .
Back in the day when the Greeks invented the olympics racial sociology started to develop. As we saw back in greek culture whites were the ones that were portrayed as strong and allmighty. Sports is a universal idiom and every culture every country has a sport that dominates above all others. I believe that the reason why certain sports are dominated by certain races is because of geographical matters. For example soccer is the most universal sport in the world, soccer is played in every part of the world, it may not be as popular in some places but its the most universal sport. Football on the other side is not that universal but here in the United State it is the dominating sport nationally. Therefore american football players black or white, are way better then say mexican football players. For example if there were to be a Football Worldcup American players or in case the USA team will dominate every other opponent in the field. The same thing happens with Basketball, although now south American countries like Argentina and asian countries like china also are very good at basketball.
As discussed in the lecture that Sam did on Joepa, people should not always judge a person for just one single flaw in there lives. Joepa was a great men, a great coach a grandpa, a husband and a benefactor to the whole Penn State community, he wasn't just a coach he supported the university and made clear that the most important thing that comes in life is a good education.
People are always judged for just that little thing that they did wrong in their lives, it doesn't matter if you helped thousands of people with money or donations or whatever it is.. if you fail in something there is always going to be that one person that points the finger at you and makes that little mistake, the mistake of your life. and as a result of this now people will judge you just for that .
Also one other thing that I learned after the death of Joepa and the whole sandusky scandal is that many people that have a good position or a good job and that are rich always try to cover up there most inhuman actions with benefits to the community. I am referring specifically to sandusky not coach Joepa. Sandusky supported the foundation The Second Mile to cover up his sick acts towards children.
Before the lecture we had on Native Americans in class, I have never thought that the biggest genocide of people had been that of Native Americans killed by the Anglos that came to conquer this land. Not only because the professor said this but if you think about it, it is truly a reality. I enjoy learning about Natives and what they accomplished in this land, their land their country, because only they are the true USA citizens. When Sam mentioned this genocide and his experience while being in his backyard and thinking that that could of been the grave of a Native American, or even a whole family of them. In my mind I was thinking that the anglos could of done massive graves for this people it is really sad to think about this in that way. This nation and its principles are based on immigration, on people coming from different parts of the world. This is the most diverse nation in the world but many people do not see it like this. The majority of people here in the U.S speak more then one language and I sincerely get offended when someone tells me why don't you ever speak English, people who ask me this are tipically persons that speak my language. spanish. I tell them hey I use English when I need it and plus you speak the same language as me so why bother talking in english when I love my spanish and feel comfortable with it?
