turn off push notification, 3g, bluetooth etc if you see no effect try charging the battery full and let it drain down by itself.. do it three times or more

This technology can't differentiate encrypted P2P & an encrypted VPN network, therefore it either sees IPSEC, HTTPS or PPTP packets or whatever crypt setup you want it to see. It cannot see the packets that is enclosed in a VPN
