6 Catholics on the Supreme Court is a scary concept. Six! An utter majority. Let's never forget that these people are taking orders from Rome and that the US Catholic Bishops have been wading into political waters over the last few elections by denying communion to any supporters of abortion. While many might agree with this in effect, the idea that the US Bishops are influencing it is atrocious. If one is co-erced into doing something it is meaningless and not an exercise of free will.

That's all nice and well. But they are in many instances legally obligated to spend and allocate for most programs at the Federal level. If Reagan himself could not starve the beast or meaningfully shrink the federal government, is it really possible?

The government has not shrunken and will not. If you eliminate the revenue from gasoline you can force cuts, but it will only be to programs that are not in line with whichever party is in power. Time passes, the tax eliminating party becomes corrupt and the other guy steps in and changes it back or increases the size of the cut program and cuts other portions of the budget.

The system is out of whack but making rash decisions are more likely to antagonize things than actually have long term effects.

It's just not as simple as you explain.

Doesn't that ruin the point of this site? If you just want to dig your head in the sand or cover your ears yelling I am right, I am right, doesn't that retard the growth of your reason or logic? People love talking about logic and reason but rarely understand it. Everyone seems to think politics and social systems obey laws of physics, that there is one way that things are. There is not. Otherwise we would all be Republicans. Logic is a set of inferences that persuade. If you do not test them against others you will never know if you have something true or know that you are right.

Until you stop blaming the other side and start making arguments based on your OWN PERSONAL economic interests you are as bad as them. Corporations and Politicians are here to exploit us and take away our rights. Right, Left, Progressive, Conservative...It's still the same game divide and conquer as they complain and vent while the rider slips through and months later you find out you only have the right to be a customer and not a human or free man.

Blame the government because you decided to take a job or buy a house far away from your residence.

You should blame yourself for wishfully thinking cheap gasoline would be around forever.

Your appraisal of futures and the perceived increased cost making them a smart investment for banks is on the money but this notion of stripping away taxes on gasoline presents an even worse scenario.

Where would the government make up the deficit in revenues if gasoline taxes were eliminated? Property Taxes? Income Taxes?

You still didn't say where you went to school?

What book did you read to appreciate the methodology of thinking? How do you examine politics? When was the last time you read an actual statute? What is the point of the 9th Amendment? What are the differences between State, Administrative and Constitutional Law? What is the per unit cost of a F/A 18 fighter?
