Where did all the zakat go? The Muslims are still poor and they even have to line up in churches to get food and basic necessities.

They come in the form of fatwa. Usually the underlings will submit to the fatwa of their corrupt leaders to kill and steal.

Back in Malaysia we have so many other serious issues to deal with. From education to blatant corruption to unaccountable murder, where does the issue of environment actually stand? Anyway, not the LGE didn't consult the public about this idea. Were you even aware that there were two meetings held seeking the opinion of the public? 9 out of 10 people do not have any objection against the projects mentioned. So if you believe in the democratic system, isn't it a strong enough mandate to go ahead with it?

Enough with the PAP bashing here. The PAP has done a good job since the days of LKY. Who bothers if they are perceived as arrogant if they manage to secure a roof over the head for their people, create a public efficient transportation and maintain good security. The political role they play in Singapore is a dual lawmaker and an assemblymen combined. It is always easy for some convenient bugger like the WP and the rest of the motley crew to come tweak one or two things here and there. You have to learn that sometimes political changes may not be for the good of all. In this case, Singapore. While France is head banging now for voting in Hollande, there is such a thing as the folly majority.

A typical example of decision making minus the big picture plus emotions. Means screwing yourself all over again.

Instead of matching the giving sprees by BN, I rather DAP do the necessary and right thing even though they cannot please everyone. If you are so concerned about the environment, go plant some trees and set up some fish ponds.
