Ludicrous is exactly the word for it. I thought Tomka was trying hard but clearly did not know where to position himself. hopefully never to be repeated.

Understand the frustration but this is down to the manager not the Board. He has been given some good new tools to work with but has refused to use them. Tomkins in midfiled bewilders me - how to ruin the confidence of one of our best players in one fell swoop1

Do you really think the West Ham crowd would have accepted Hughton? You are talking with benefit of hindsight, ie he is doing OKat the moment. Anyway, as i recalll, we are above them in the league??

On the release of Brown, Fry and Lee - where did that come out? I'd heard that Brown was well regarded, I guess you nevner know. I still find it amazing that Adam Newton never made it with us.

West Ham Till I Die : Vote: Player Performances v Sheffield Wednesday

All those asking us to shell out 6m on Rhodes should think back to David Kelly. He was the hottest scoring prospect around at the time, we took the punt - Oh dear. Goals in lower league don't always count for much - look at Trevor Senior and indeed Bobby Z for his first few years at top level.i think you need to be able to bring in lower league strikers when you have finances and are able to nurture them in reserves, etc for a year or so. We could not spend 6m on someone to nurture - we need somebody for the now.

Here here! Some people are delusional about the owners having endless stacks of cash to pour into the club.

I seem to recall the owners did the right thing last Christmas - just the Manager could not use the gifts he was given. This Summer as well they helped us bring in Nolan who, despite critics on here, was a coveted premiership player. I'm no big fan of the Davids but it does amuse me that people come on this site full of self-righteousness that the owners HAVE to put their hands in their pockets.

Colm - Reading really want to sell into the Premiership to avoid one of their Championship rivals getting the benefit of Long. Makes some kind of sense i guess

What a strange season in the league. Home performances against Spurs and Liverpool as good as anything we've seen in the last 10 years. Home perforamcnes against the likes of Birmingham as abject as any. I feel optimistic but really hope that some of our previous aneamic perforances against relegation rivals do not haunt us.

Fantastic perofrmance overall. Yes the midfield (all of them) ran out of steam in the last 15 minutes but we deserved the win. The mystery is - why can we not play that tempo every time. Same effort will blow Stoke away.
