I like the way that IDW has allowed other comics talents to develop their own personal styles and approaches, but Cook and Price set the bar VERY high right out the chute. "Fearless" Fosgitt boldly presented a drastically different art style, one that presented the adult characters (Spitfire and Dash) as "Toonier" than they truly are. The facial expressions and reactions are great. Showing Spitfire to have hooves of clay (in a manner of speaking) in this context was FAR more convincing than her unfortunate turn as a conniving, turncoat villain in "Rainbow Falls." The reason for her reticence with the kids was believable... though I would hardly describe her behavior to the recruits as "mean." Demanding, maybe. And it was nice to see Dash helping another character to learn a valuable lesson, as opposed to getting a slapdown on how egotistical, non-bookish, arrogant, etc. she is. That's another side to the element of loyalty, namely, helping your friends to recognize flaws in their behavior and to correct them because, well, they're your friends.
