You're a sucker, R.A. Porter! Oops, I mean dreamer.

Doug, I just didn't have it in me for this one, so I left it up to R.A. I left the only thoughts I could verbalize as a comment in his fabulous review. Beyond that, I'm still a little speechless.

I suspect you'll live, Cap'n. But I need to connect this one to the end to come up with any kind of "analysis," (and I'm using that word as loosely as possible) because I don't think it stands very well on its own. Also, a lot of the writing was kind of shitty, for some inexplicable reason, and I want to put it together with Part 2, hoping the whole will surpass the sum of this part.

I LOVED seeing the Caprica stuff, and kept trying to convince myself that what we were seeing weren't actually flashbacks but a sort of parallel life stream that was going to lead them all to some other future. But that was just me dreaming, I guess.

Baby, the last two eps of BSG are yours if you want them; not having to write about them might convince me it's not ending... (Also, I gave up on FotC, too, so I'll be done :(

Yeah, I'm not sure why Intense Debate doesn't like you, but it's doing the same for me right now. Not my favorite utility -- might have something to do with paragraph breaks, but who knows. If I use the arrow key, I can still navigate to the bottom of the box.

As for Lee, I can't disagree with your points, and all of my reactions to his character are strictly personal bias -- I'm drawn towards older characters as a rule, because they're more interesting to me and tend to be more nuanced, and I find all those existential crises a little tedious (specifically because I either have dealt or am currently dealing with them myself). Thus I prefer characters like Bill or Laura who take the cards they're dealt and just deal with them -- without the luxury of getting to choose. (I know Laura's gotten waffly about that in this back half of the season, but I'll give her some slack on account of the dying). But partly it's Jamie Bamber's acting, too, which I find flimsy sometimes (I know, many MANY people will disagree, but what can I say? It's how I feel.) And his character -- like Helo -- is always held up as such a paragon of goodness, and righteousness, and frankly that bores me. And that's it; I think the character is boring, because he's always set up on the side of doing what's right (even when he's cheating on Dee with Kara, he's so noble about it). I just never felt he was a very well-rounded character.

Thanks for the kind words, Cap'n. If only I had seen the light about Lee sooner! (He sure was young when we started, wasn't he? I loved him as Captain Apollo, back in Season 1, but when he got all self-righteous and preachy -- maybe coinciding with his Pegasus arc, and definitely extending through his lawyerly phase in "Crossroads" -- I had to shut him down.

Agreed (and you can never be too late to this party; it's neverending). Thanks Doug.

Poor Tyrol.

Sold! I love Madeline. Every show on TV needs a cranky, chain-smoking platinum blonde to whip things into shape.

I agree. I like the standalone eps, but everything gets cranked up a notch when it's somehow personal to Michael. Guess I finally need to go back and watch season 1, huh? Luckily my TV schedule is about to have a big BSG-sized hole ripped right through it...

The last five minutes sort of broke my heart; I'll miss that most of all.
