The engine didn't blow. The seal on the oil filter failed and caused it to dump oil. The engine was shut off before any damage was done.

I'm pretty sure it's a replica car like the white one at TAS last year. Nobody would be dumb enough to kill the value of one of the only 351 2000GTs ever made by doing a motor swap like that. I think that each tranny has its place. For a straight track car, I'd take the DSG - lightning fast downshifts with no risk of a mis-shift allows for consistently faster laptimes. For the street, I like rowing through the gears, especially during spirited drives through the mountains, so manual it is.

finally, somebody that hates the J30 as much as I do!! Honestly one of the ugliest cars in existence. Actually the VG30DE in the J30 and the VG30DE in the non-turbo z32 are pretty much the same thing. As a result, swapping the VG30DETT from the z32 TT is quite easy; the hardest part being finding a place to cram in all the intercooler piping and intercoolers. (btw, what track did you hear the reference in?)

There's actually a company in the US that sells these type of body conversions. The Aston one they sell is for a Jag XK, and it actually looks pretty legit when installed properly, but that's probably because the Jag and the Aston share a similar platform to begin with.
