If you are a pilot, then you have a responsibility to your passengers to help keep hem safe. Just like I do when I drive my family in our minivan. There is a difference though, you don't know your passengers. Therefore you should be armed. In my opinion, if a pilot does not want this responsibility, he or she should not fly a commercial aircraft. Grow some balls, or go fly a kite.
