I have 3GS with iOS 5.0.1 and BB 6.15 ... But after jailbroken and installed ultrasn0w the phone would keep showing "searching for signal" ... I did a clean restore but it doesn't work either. Any idea guys?

Sorry guys, dumb question but hope u can help... a friend's 3GS running on 5.0.1 with baseband 6.15 ... should be unlockable with ultrasn0w but after installed, it keeps displaying "searching for signal". I repeated the steps by reinstall ultrasn0w, restart phone, and do a boot tethered. Then redsn0w gave me a message to specify the ipsw, which I did but it gave me another message saying "no_bb_oldrom...." is not supported by this version of redsn0w (0.9.10b5) ... it's my first time messing with 3GS =/ maybe select the stock firmware instead of the custom one..? Thanks in advance

iOS 5, the custom one. And yeah, I just edited the previous post: I changed the save shsh directory to another drive, it was originally set to C:\\. Is that the problem?

the set host to cydia is actually unchecked, I did it when saving shsh. The only thing I have checked right now is save all available shsh request shsh from cydia overwrite existing shsh files on "save shsh" when connecting a device prefer my custom........ btw I did modified the save shsh directory since I mainly use the 2nd harddrive instead of drive C:\ does that affect anything? Do I have to do anything else beside these?

I have a question: I have a friend who works at a mobile store. She told me there has not been a customer who was able to unlock their iPhone using gevey sim card after updating to iOS 5 with preserved baseband (they would come back and ask for help). Can I get a clarification on this? Is it true? Have anyone here tried it yet? Please let me know, thanks!

Hey slavakulikoff, I just wanna make sure of something. Right now I'm running on iOS 4.3.3. BB 4.10.01 unlocked with gevey. Following your direction, in order to update to iOS 5, I'd first need to save all shsh? After that follow all the steps through. After restore, don't restore from back up but jailbreak first then sync from back up? I'm only confuse at the first part with tiny umbrella and the part "don't restore from back up" right after restore to custom firmware. Thanks in advance! Sorry for any troubles.
