Agreed. I worked with an immediate family member and saw how much this ordeal hurt them all. There was never a question that this house was filled with love. All of the people involved supported one another, before AND after all this happened. I am very sorry for your loss.

That's funny because I was there and I saw quite a few men helping out. Funny.

THESE are the real pictures that show the conditions of these dogs. Thank you to Last Hope for showing the truth. Everyone who has posted a comment saying we are unjustified needs to go look at these pictures and then decide if they have been given proper care. Oh, and p.s., the pictures won't show you the stench of urine and infection. lasthoperescueia.org

And the news failed to mention that on Tuesday we were forced to move all the dogs from Kirkwood in a matter of two hours because Buzz Powell had been calling and harrassing Kirkwood, saying that "if he had to come out there, we would be sorry". Yeah, sounds like a real great guy.

cont... Those of us that were there and saw the facts are the only ones who are entitled to comment on this situation. We are not a bunch of activists with nothing better to do, we are people who actually give a crap about animals and think they should be treated reasonably. Our concern is not as much for the puppies, as we know they are being kept well, we are concerned for those breeding adults who nobody sees and who spend their lives in the 2' square kennels. Imagine a life such as theirs' and then rethink your comments.

cont... The person who said that you see only what he wants you to see is absolutely right. I notice that you all bought puppies from him. Did you ask to see the parents of these puppies or any of the other adults? Did you also ask to go to the next property over where he keeps all of his adult dogs and the rest of his kennels? Of course you saw the puppies at his home, he wouldn't dare let you see what we saw. Truth is, the puppies are treated great because that's where the money comes from. And of course he seemed "nice", he was trying to sell you something. The adults are bred over and over until their insides fall out and then they are either "discarded" (fill in your own horrible scene here) or sold at an auction where people like pit bull fighters get their bait dogs. What kind of a life would that be for you? Stop and think about the situation for a minute. cont...

cont... I saw emaciation to the point that the dogs could not even hold themselves up, one with a fever so high we could feel it, mange, oily dandruff and massive skin infections caused by untreated skin problems, a missing eye, an ear completely torn off, tons of torn ears, a couple with eye ulcers so bad the eye was protruding from their face, neurological disorders, the majority of them with such bad diarrhea that their anus was swollen and bleeding, a few with pus dripping from their reproductive organs, an untreated broken rib, several broken feet/legs, a c-section incision that was infected, and I'm sure more that I have failed to mention. He was also using motor oil on their skin and boric acid in their ears to prevent fleas and ear mites. Their ears were chemically burnt because of this and the infections still remained. And did I mention that the odor of urine and feces from every one of these dogs was nauseating. I don't know about you but these seem like good enough reasons to be reporting this kennel. cont...

As one of the "frustrated women with nothing else to complain about" who was actually on the scene and saw every one of the dogs in question, I would like to put my two cents in. From a distance most of these dogs appear fine. However, if you actually get close to them you will see all of the problems. Yes, the dogs had tooth problems and skin conditions, but their tooth problems were so bad that they had abcesses and swollen faces and teeth ready to fall out of their mouths, don't you think you would have taken them to the vet then? And their skin problems were due to the urine and feces they were soaking in. The little "white" Westies were all YELLOW. And thank you for asking, there were a few of them that appeared to have mange. These were not skin conditions, these were dramatic itchy skin conditions exaggerated by the urine in their fur. Every one of the dogs were dehydrated and drank for what seemed like an eternity. Mr. Buzz actually told the veterinarians that they had not been given water since the night before. cont...
