Jackson and Ruffalo notwithstanding, I would pay money to watch Downey Jr. read the phone book. I'm in!

Big Hollywood : 'Once Upon a Time' Review: Shows Enough Promise to Overcome Weak Fantasy Elements

I've watched it so far and find it interesting. However, Jennifer Morrison (I think that's her name, used to be Cameron on "House") is supposed to be 28 y.o.? 38 maybe. I guess it's sorta weird that with evil queens casting curses and Snow White and Prince Charming, that's the one area I couldn't suspend my disbelief.

Big Hollywood : What Shoulda Won? Best Picture Academy Award - 1994

No, I actually did like American Psycho (although I'm still confused by the ending; maybe I need to rewatch it). I like black comedies, but I didn't find anything funny in Pulp Fiction.

If they explain it to you, let me in on it. After watching PF, I wanted nothing more than a scalding hot shower to wash the stench of this movie off me. I've never had that sort of visceral reaction to a movie before or since (and believe me, I've sat through some stinkers). I will acknowledge Tarantino's talent as a writer, but PF was a truly unpleasant experience.

Good point, Scoop. Maybe Nolte should change the title of his post. and I agree with C. It's not very good. (One Night... not Ten Commandments. Any movie that casts Edward G. Robinson as an Egyptian gets my vote.)

Big Hollywood : 83rd Annual Academy Award Nominations

Yeah, he got down to like 120 lbs. for The Machinist (which was a great flick, btw; if you haven't seen it, I highly recommend it), and he got amazingly ripped for American Psycho and was great in both those roles. If that physical transformation is what he needs to get into the mindset for the character, more power to him.

Agree, although I'd give the edge to Melissa Leo. But, hey, I'm not voting, so who cares what I think. I am glad to see Christian Bale nominated. He's way overdue. I know a lot of people thought his performance was gimmicky (i.e. the losing weight), but he was playing a crack addict for cryin' out loud. What's he supposed to look like?

I know this has nothing to do with the post (which I haven't yet read all the way through), but the typo in the title is one that drives me crazy. "You're" is "you are." "Your" is the possessive. There, thank you. Just had to get that off my chest

My mother has never forgiven Gregory Peck for winning the Oscar for To Kill a Mockingbird over Jack Lemmon in Days of Wine & Roses. I used to laugh at this until I saw Days... what an amazing film. And until today I had no idea Blake Edwards directed it. RIP.

Hated Erin Brockovich. I don't understand the perception that lawyers in class-action suits are these scrappy underdogs defending the little guy. The only people in that PG&E lawsuit in the movie who made any money were the lawyers. The plaintiffs got about a grand apiece.
