I like your description. Times have gotten hard financially and if I don't love it, I won't buy it. I don't love Green Tea (the artist, not the drink. I love green tea to drink) but I'd listen if I were chilling and someone else paid for her album. I don't think she would do well if she changed it up but staying in your musical lane is something that has served some artists well over the years. Know your audience and then play to them. If I want someone to make me waggle my head and talk ish, I'm listening to MJB. If I want to have some sexy time, I'm listening to Prince. If I want to tear the club up, Three6. Normally for sit back and chill days it's Jill Scott, but I didn't much care for Light of the Sun (I think it was the waiting that did me in). The last item I spent money on was Climax by Ursher. I've gotten to where I only buy one song and the album must be spectacular for me to buy it in its entirety.
