I listened to an audio tape that was aired on the radio today and heard what Akers told the cops, and also heard what the cops told Akers. The cops handled the situation very well and explained to Akers why he was being asked to leave. Akers was, after all, on private property and a private function and yes, legally, they have the right to ask Akers to leave. It was not a public function on public property. It was more than evident that Akers refused to comply and kept asking the off duty cops there why he was being asked to leave, even after it was explained to Akers in pretty simple English.
