If you are an active job seeker, you must be active. Think of job seeking as your new job by spending several hours a day actively seeking new employment. Just sitting back and thinking an employer will come knocking on your door will not get the job done.

"Generic" resumes are not the way to go. Tailor the resume to the JOB OPENING by emphasizing your skills/experience that match up to the needs of the employer. If there is no opening, you are wasting your time and paper. Some people have the idea that if they "wallpaper" a whole bunch of different businesses with their generic resume, it will get them a job.

To get on the right track, register with the Idaho Dept. of Labor and attend the classes that they offer on resume writing, interviewing skills, and discussing your options with a job consultant. All these services are FREE! You do not need an appointment to get started. Locally, there are offices in Nampa/Caldwell, Meridian, and downtown Boise, but offices exist throughout the State.
