My grandmother and mother had Alzheimers, and unfortunately, my mother knew she was "slipping" and knew what was coming to her and our family. I so desperately wanted her to wake up one day and be in her own little world, but she was well aware of what was happening. I'm glad your dad made it to his own little world.
Before you nail me with TD's, please know I am pro choice. That being said, we would need fewer abortions if we used contraceptives more often. Fewer would need this medication, if safe sex was practiced more often. As dancingnights said above, a great start to ending a devastating disease.
I'm glad they are safe, however, she made many mistakes, the first by telling the girls to run. You NEVER run from a bear, they will chase you. You NEVER drop your pack as it will give you some protection if the bear attacks. Encounters with bears are never "by the book" but those two things are important to know. My closest encouter to a grizzly in the Yukon was 100' and that was way to close. Cool, but too close!
For those of us who are Penn State Alumni, this entire crime is crushing. We trusted JoePa, how devastating this is to his victims and their families, the university and those who love Penn State. Joe, what were you thinking? We'll never know but how shameful.
I'm getting old, I understand it is a part of life, but they don't have to rub my nose in it with stories like this!

When I am 73 and do something this foolish, I would expect no sympathy. I would, however, hope my family had me locked up for my own good!
I lived on my boat and sailed thousands of miles between Bellingham and Alaska for 30 years. The most careless people I observed were people who chartered boats. Many of those folks had little knowledge of boats, or had nothing to lose if they damaged the charter boat, or boats around them. Having insurance is very important if you own your boat.
I'm guessing if we poll eagles, they would veto this idea. If you remember, it was DDT that put them, and other species on the endangered list. Not to mention human birth defects.
