KATU - Portland, OR : Beavers baseball could move to Beaverton | KATU.com - Portland, Oregon | Sports

This is the worst idea I've ever heard. There is absolutely no space for a ballpark in that location. The traffic in that area is already atrocious and there is a mall and movie theater a quarter mile up the street. How could putting a ballpark there be good city planning? Insanity! I hope this idea is quickly dismissed.

KATU - Portland, OR : Portland street renamed Cesar Chavez Blvd. | KATU.com - Portland, Oregon | News

This street renaming business is ridiculous. If you're going to rename a street in the state with a long standing history, shouldn't you rename it for someone who has been influential in the state itself? What did Cesar Chavez ever do for Oregon? I don't dispute that he did a lot for labor rights, but does he really deserve a street in Oregon? I don't think so. There are plenty of parks going up - they should have named something new for him. Cesar Chavez is no MLK.

KATU - Portland, OR : Bellotti turns over Ducks\' helm to Chip Kelly | KATU.com - Portland, Oregon | Sports

I love Bellotti and I love the Ducks, but it's time for a change. I have a lot of confidence in Chip Kelly, and I'm happy Bellotti's staying with Oregon as athletic director. I'm sure it will be bumpy for a bit, but in the end will be great. What we really need is to get a new defensive coordinator. Allioti is only average and has been holding back defensive potential. Regardless, I'll be shouting Go Ducks! come fall.

KATU - Portland, OR : Supporters rally for Sam Adams | KATU.com - Portland, Oregon | News

The only disgrace here is that the media thinks it's okay to ask someone about their sex life. The true crime here is that we even allow it to be acceptable to ask another person, public figure or not, about which ADULTS they have sex with. What happens between two consenting ADULTS is none of our business. The only reason people are throwing a fit about this is because he's gay. If this was a straight woman you'd be calling her a "cougar" and everyone would laugh it off and move on. I don't blame him for not being truthful. He was right when he assumed he would be crucified for his sexual preference and that his record would be ignored because of the ignorance of people in this State.

KATU - Portland, OR : $14B auto bailout bill may be DOA | KATU.com - Portland, Oregon | News

The government needs to get it together here. Sure, a bailout isn't palatable, but the jobless rate is horrific right now. My husband was in middle management and laid off last month. Finding a job is proving extremely difficult. Allowing the auto industry to fail is simply not an option. The jobs lost would be catastrophic for the economy. I agree that we don't have an economy right now that can survive such a disaster. The bailout needs to be done in some form or fashion and it needs to happen soon. I fear for all of us if something isn't done quickly to protect and create jobs in America.

KATU - Portland, OR : University of Oregon football coach Bellotti to become athletic director | KATU.com - Portland, Oreg

This is a good move. I love Bellotti, but some day he was going to leave. With this move, we get to keep Chip Kelly for awhile, who's a major asset to the team and is a hot commodity at this moment. "at a time yet to be determined" could mean it will happen for 2009, but they don't want to spoil any deals they could have in the works with potential recruits. I'm glad we're going to keep some stability not only with the team, but with the athletic dept as a whole. Good move Ducks!

KATU - Portland, OR : Appellate court denies return of Snowball to Molalla family | KATU.com - Portland, Oregon | News

What's ridiculous about this whole thing is the amount of money the State has spent in order to get a deer put in a wildlife safari. They should have just told the family to get a permit or the deer would be removed in X amount of days. The State could have saved over $80,000 in one simple step. This was a power play for the State and nothing more. They wanted the family put in their place for not following their rules. While I agree deer are not pets and the family should have obtained the deer legally, the amount of time and money put into this fight is insane. I can't believe our tax dollars went into something like this.

The article isn't about academic performance, it's about violence and criminal activity on school grounds. Students are are bringing weapons and committing crimes. This isn't just a school issue. This is also a community issue, as well as a family issue. The schools are often the stop gap for this behavior because a lot of the criminal activity happens at school when kids are with their peers.

KATU - Portland, OR : Izzy\'s closes three locations as downturn hits restaurants hard | KATU.com - Portland, Oregon | New

I'm not an Izzy's fan, but I do feel for some of these restaurants. A local place in Lake Oswego called Amerigos has already had to close it's doors too. It was a great little restaurant that I would go to from time to time with family. When the economy starts hitting the local businesses, I'm sad. The big chains will survive, it's the corner pub and local mom and pop places closing that are upsetting.

KATU - Portland, OR : Stocks rebound as search for economic solution continues | KATU.com - Portland, Oregon | News

I'm certainly not a fan of the bailout, but we can't do absolutely nothing. Doing nothing will effect average Americans. There's no way this won't trickle down to the rest of us. In plain terms, what we as Americans are not realizing is how much we rely on credit. Credit comes from banks. Banks are being effected by all the foreclosures from bad loans. In order to survive banks will have to reduce credit limits. Which means all those people out there who use their credit cards to buy groceries, gas and make their every day living expenses will be feeling the pain. This is a big deal for all of us. I don't think 700mil is a good solution, and I don't think making taxpayers pay for it all is a good idea, but sitting on our hands and thinking we're sticking it to the Man is not going to make things better either.

Long term suspension? Are they serious? How about expulsion! There should be a zero tolerance for this behavior in our society. And if George Fox put these students in this group because they have "leadership potential" then what is George Fox hoping they'll be leaders of? The KKK! These students should lose their scholarships and be expelled. The university sweeping this lightly under the rug is disgusting.

KATU - Portland, OR : Teens charged with secretly filming sex with girls | KATU.com - Portland, Oregon | Local

I don't think talking to your kids is going to stop them from having sex. I'm not ignorant, although you seem to imply such. The difference is, when you talk to your kids about sex, you may actually know what they're doing, and they may actually come to you when they decide to have sex, seek protection and ask questions. I was raised by the straightest arrow parents in the world, but they made it clear to me I could come to them when I decided to have sex. And so when I made that decision, I did go to my parents and they made sure I was protected. I'm not blaming parents. But I think it's pretty clear that the majority of people these days are crapping out kids like they're candy and could care less about being parents. There's more to being a parent than giving birth. Maybe you should WAKE UP!

I can't believe some of you are condemning these girls. Fine, the sex was consensual, but they didn't ask to be filmed and for the films to be distributed. They didn't even know it was happening. That's called child pornography. These so called "men" should be prosecuted for what they did. I feel bad for these girls. Parents don't talk to their children the days. Children are having sex at a younger and younger age, and don't even comprehend the risks involved. It's not as simple as pregnancy or STDs. There are a whole group of sexual predators out there, including these two jerks. Ever hear of myspace? It's not a sweet place to make friends. It's a place for deviants to roam free.
