The Malaysian Insider : Main - Malaysia - Election offence to provide flights for voters, says Ambiga @ Fri May 03 2013

If you cannot even differentiate the nature of these respective activities and still insist on defending BN by this twisted argument, let me try to enlighten you. The difference here is that Bersih's campaign is 'Jom Balik Undi' - for all registered and legal voters. Furthermore, there is no pressure whatsoever on participants to vote a particular side and everything is carried out openly. This BN's campaign is 'Jom Pergi Undi' - for all non-voters and foreigners. They were taught to memorise the 'scale' picture and trained to mark a cross beside it. And everything is carried out in a secretive way.

Not a really smart move, my friend. A move easily seen through by a single digit IQ person. This just shows how unprincipled politics in BN has become.

The Malaysian Insider : Main - Malaysia - Penang BN promises to double Pakatan’s social welfare handouts @ Thu Apr 18

I have never seen political parties so blatantly giving up their own principles and style just to beg for votes. Penang BN, you are blindly copying what Pakatan is already offering. What are your think tanks paid to do? Can't you come out with something of your own? Shame on you. Big shame on you. Even if you cannot come out with better policies, just shut up. I am utterly disgusted at this kind of plagiarism. You just revealed yourself as an incompetent party with rubbish leaders. On a side note, I have to thank you for supporting and openly endorsing Pakatan's policies and good work in Penang.

The Malaysian Insider : Main - Malaysia - Najib to endorse Hindraf blueprint, says group @ Thu Apr 18 2013

Hindraf is just like BN. Founded on noble intentions by leaders of principles, BN once commanded respect from Malaysians during its tumultuous period after independence. It used to symbolize the spirit of this multi-racial nation and our ability to work together under one roof despite the differences; all for the greater good of our nation. However, BN soon landed in wrong hands and veered off the path designated by our forefathers. 55 years down the road, racial unity have become racial segregation. Collective benefits for all citizens have been disregarded in favour of personal wealth in the cronies' hands. Greed consumed BN, and the regime became corrupt to the core. To save themselves, all kinds of despicable ways were used to manipulate the rakyats for it to stay in power. Hindraf, as of BN, started off with noble intentions. To save the Indians from the plight of their living, they said. To elevate the status of Indians and Indians no longer want to be strangers in our own land, they said. To topple the wicked and evil regime of BN which rule by racial politics, they said. The resilience of the leaders of Hindraf indeed commanded respect not only from the Indian community, but also from other ordinary Malaysians. However, following the exile of its leaders, they have been struggling to keep themselves afloat and relevant. Soon, they deploy their strategies, determined for a comeback for GE13. Waythamoorty came back from exile; Hindraf became legal; Hindraf came out with its manifesto; Waythamoorty went on hunger strike; then most bizarre of all, he went straight to Putrajaya to meet Najib; and now Najib is going to endorse Hindraf's manifesto. All these events unfold within half a year. This is nothing less than a drama. In the space of 5 years, the leaders have eaten their own words and are now working with the devil that they once hated. They have betrayed their cause. Isn't it just like BN who has veered off horribly and still trying to keep themselves relevant? Najib, you seem to be firing blankly and missing on what the minority races really want. The Indians do not want you to pump aids to them and promise them loads of goodies. The Indians do not want you to solve the stateless Indians issues only during election time. The Indians do not want you to sign the Hindraf's manifesto plainly and sweet-talk them. What the Indians want is a sincere leader who truly respects the community and someone who can promise a fair and level playing field for all races. The moment you decided to field Zul Noordin, you are out.

The Malaysian Insider : Main - Malaysia - Help me if you love me, Najib tells civil servants @ Thu Apr 18 2013

When can Najib stop glorifying himself and his 'successes'? When can he stop talking like someone pleading for vote by scare tactics and warning people not to even have tea with the opposition? When can Najib finally behave like a real Prime Minister of a nation with dignity and principles? Seriously, with each passing day, I get more and more disappointed with him. Above all, I am heavily disgusted at the 'I Love PM' signs. You accuse Anwar of bringing his entire party into his personal political struggle. However, you are the one who keeps emphasizing on personal mantra and portraying yourself as the national icon. 'If you want me, vote BN.' BN is Najib, Najib is BN. It seems like you are larger than your party, and larger than this nation. I don’t love Najib. I don’t love BN. I love Malaysia.

The Malaysian Insider : Main - Malaysia - BN will lose Selangor because of Zul Noordin, Vell Paari warns @ Wed Apr 17 2013

Please get your facts right before even dare commenting. The comment was clearly not made more than 10 years ago, as he was referring to the Murugan statue at Batu Caves in one of the videos, which was only built 7 years ago. It just showed his horrendously insincere apology just to appease the Hindu community. Secondly, you seem to insinuate that his remarks could be blamed on his previous parties, PAS and PKR. Mind you, he was sacked by PAS because of suspected religious extremism. A wise decision which shows that PAS has no place for extremists like him. Thirdly, by arguing that 'the opposition is responsible for more racist remarks', I cannot help but think that your racial bigotry has reached an unprecedented and hopeless level. You seem to justify his actions by saying 'Don't just target him, there are others like him too!'. The issue here is that he does not even have basic respects for other race and religion in this country, which it itself, should be condemned. Hindu temples might be torn down in Selangor, Kampung Buah Pala might be demolishedin Penang; but these are not targeted at the Indian community specifically. You could argue it is PR's failure to adhere to its manifesto, but not even a single soul in PR would ever disregard other religion like how Zul Noordin did. You sound like a pathetic fanatic Anything UMNO supporter. You should be the one waking up. Glad to see a MIC leader dare voice out on this issue.

The Malaysian Insider : Main - Malaysia - Chinese educators told to support BN in ‘special’ Johor meet @ Tue Apr

For too long, the BN government has been interfering the supposedly independent organisations and sectors in a society. Police force, judiciary and education institutions have been manipulated and misused by the government, to serve its own interests. Justice has been long gone with the tainted judiciary and the police who is scared of the government. I am most disgusted that even schools have become the political battleground for BN; and teachers become their targets for political bashing and preaching. Please, leave them alone. Have some basic political principles, before you even dare call yourself the education minister and the DPM of Malaysia.

The Malaysian Insider : Main - Malaysia - BN must ignore Dr M on Ibrahim Ali or risk backlash, say analysts @ Tue Apr 09 201

Dear AhmadSobri150, I have no idea on what basis you are making such accusations of DAP. Since Day 1 of entering politics, LKS has envisioned Malaysia to be a Malaysian Malaysia. In his vision, position of Islam and the Royalty was never to be questioned. DAP has never once incited the Chinese into hating the Malays or questioning their bumiputra status. The reputation as a "Chinese chauvinistic party" does not do it justice at all. LKS and LGE, for all their assertive selves, have never played racial cards. They lament at poor governance of the countries, they stand up for injustices (LGE jailed for defending a Malay girl), they are perennially frustrated with the money-centric BN and its cronies. Maybe you get the image of them playing racist card from DAP's ceramahs where they always speak to a Chinese-majority audience screaming their lungs out; thus concluding that they are inciting the Chinese or 'drum into the Chinese brain that the Chinese have been marginalised by the Malays'? No, they simply never. For myself, I have never once attended a DAP or oppostion ceramah. Nor have I rely my information sources solely from the opposition. I have never been 'brainwashed'. However, I can observe for myself. What has Malaysia become after 55 years of racial politics? Racial unity has been cast aside, only to be replaced by racial negligence. Discussion on 513 is forbidden, BTN brainwashing sessions are used to incite hatred among races, racial interaction is subtly discouraged; suspicions over and stereotypes of other races are not addressed. Racial segregation has preceded, under its noble notion of 'avoiding conflicts and ensuring peace and harmony'. The rule of BN and their relentless brandishing of racial cards racial cards are insulting our intelligence and social maturity. My friend, you should be able to see for yourself, who are those that accumulate the wealth and riches? Indeed, Genting tycoon, Sugar tycoon, bank tycoons. All Malaysian Chinese. But besides being Chinese, the most important trait you should have pointed out is their amicable relationship with the BN government. They are cronies. Along with hundreds of Malay, Indian cronies. Look at Taib. Look at Mahathir's son. I believe I do not have to continue on this list. See the contradiction? UMNO claims to protect Malay rights, but when it comes to enriching cronies, they have always been 'satu Malaysia'. They can brandish keris in front of you, while almost immediately at the back, you would see them having a cocktail party with the cronies regardless of races. This is what we, as ordinary rakyats, be it Malay, Chinese, Indian, Kadazan, should discriminate against; not our own abang adiks that are born and raised in this country. When DAP fight for a Malaysian Malaysia, they do not fight for the Chinese. Neither do they fight for the minority races. Neither do they try to overthrow the Malays and Sultans. Neither do they fight for Christians. They simply fight for all Malaysians, because simply, we deserve better. You are free to have your political view and your allegiance to political parties. I just wish to appeal to you. Please, brother, for once, let's disregard racial politics and move towards a better Malaysia. Best Regards, KL

The Malaysian Insider : Main - Malaysia - Racial politics still relevant, says former IGP @ Tue Apr 09 2013

As one from the younger generation, I have always wondered why racial politics could even flourish in the past 50 years of Malaysia's history. It was founded on the needs of the time, when Malaysia just gained independence and social fabric was still in its infancy stage and racial tensions occasionally threatened to dismantle the nation. However, over the 50 years ruled by BN, racial politics in Malaysia has long deviated from its original intentions. It no longer serves its noble purposes of ensuring peace and prosperity in Malaysia. After decades of segregating the races and implementing race-based policies, racial tensions in Malaysia continue to simmer. Discussions on races are suppressed, understanding between each races is discouraged. How can this help the nation to achieve a lasting peace, one that based on understanding and respect, rather than avoidance of racial issues at all costs? Ex-IGP promoting and justifying for racial politics? It is precisely these bigoted minds wielding power at the top, while neglecting sentiments on the ground; that security forces, the government, have long lost the faith of an average Malaysian.
