I do it occasionally, when I'm doing something exceptionally cool/fun, or am in a different part of the world and want ppl to know and get in touch with me, without having to reach out to them independently....but I agree that the guys who do it daily have wayy too much free time on their hands!
I'd love this, definitely has added value, and if you could cut out the waiter and use the menu to place your order straight to the kitchen, think of the time that would save!
i agree, there's no point collecting data if you can't maintain confidenitality and use it effectively....this applies for the government but also to companies. Often, there's an obsession with market research and collecting consumer data, without actually checking how the govt/company can actually use it!
I do think mobile advertising will be the next big thing....but the standard principles might not apply, and it might have to be very different from existing advertising to succeed. I think the Smartphone will facilitate that, and there are already some companies working on very interesting and radical means of advertising in the pre-call space, with the potential of providing individual control so people are not hassled by unwanted advertisements
this is a very interesting article....perhaps the fact that online conversions are so much easier to track has led us to take a very narrow view of the impact of online advertising...
hmm, so anyone can do this? They don't select the people based on existing knowledge of the business/wine, if you don't know the business, how do you make decisions?
I think it just kills some of the respect and regard that consumers have for the brand....even if they changed their actions in the face of protest, it's not good enough, the damage has been done and it makes consumers like me a lot more suspicious of using Facebook and putting information on there....
i think advertising can be effective, within limits. I think a lot of the companies use viral not necessarily as a means of increasing sales directly but to give consumers an opportunity to engage and interact with the brand and hopefully build loyal brand advocates who actively promote the brand and encourage others to buy into it...
I agree with that, although HSBC in London insists you use your cheque book if you want to withdraw money above a certain limit from the teller. It's a real pain to carry around though!
This is really hysterical....it's amazing how much time people can spend on stuff like this...
