Ghana's Tech Hub. : Ghana's Digital Television Switchover, getting ready for 2012

Yes it is. And usually just as happened in the US most of us don't know until its a few months away. Plus we have a crucial election around that time.... Maybe the election may extend the implementation date though

You will need to contact eTranzact directly for up to date details but the basics; 1. Pay Merchant Account Fees 2. Download API samples (if required) 3. Integrate using the eTranzact API

Ghana's Tech Hub. : Future Me: February 20, 2019 (Final Installation)

It was great as a piece of creative writing wasn\\\'t it Mike. But yes we have ended the series. We (the author and myself as the editor) decided the core audience ofhe website were not that into it. But if you Love it, we\\\'ll be exploring having stories under one of our new sites (we\\\'ll keep our readers posted) which we believe will give the authors more creative freedom to explore as many themes without being worried about restricting the content to suit a \\\'core audience\\\'. Watch Out, this series may just come out again, free of any shackles it had here.

Ghana's Tech Hub. : BB Essentials: BlackBerry Internet Service (Part 1)

Good point. We\\\'ll be exploring some of the points raised, under a \\\'Living without BIS\\\' themed post. I have tried iSkoot but it still required dialling out to a US number to work, so I didn\\\'t try it. Calling over Wifi using UMA seems not to be supported by any operator here (will need to double check), just as in the US T-mobile supports it but not AT&T (I stand corrected) BBM is a whole post on its own!!!

Yes there were some great tools and services also deployed. However the excitement of the tournament itself meant we did not blog enough about the cool tech on 233Tech. Maybe as a \\\'lookin back at WC 2010\\\' we\\\'ll do more

Ghana's Tech Hub. : iPhone 4: This Is It!

The iPhone 4 has some really impressive hardware no doubt about it and it has even a die hard BB thinking...

But why does Steve Jobs always do this. Unless you get this phone direct from a carrier where are you to get a micro SIM?

The coolest thing on iPhone 4 for me is Facetime. I know bandwidth in Ghana is an issue but I still love the feature. Using both cameras at the same time to give both parties a feel of what is going on is GENIUS... Hope Apple don\\\'t patent that....

txtNpay is a good service and their target being the 'ordinary guy' seems to be the winning formula for this type of service. Examples being MPESA in Kenya and others before it in Asia.

Ghana's Tech Hub. : Is E-zwich internet payments ready?

Yes I agree with you that a card that could not be used online was a mistake but a mistake that can be fixed relatively easily according to Net1 who own and operate the technology used for e-zwich.

It is especially painful because just across the border in Nigeria (Smile here David) it seems InterSwitch have got it right. I want a good online solution too!!

Half-hearted implementation of such innovative services usually backfire. Third party implementators also need to behave with more consistency. My friend was told he cannot link his E-zwich to his account by GCB staff, others will tell you it is possible, where is the consistency? Unacceptable!!

Yes I think its a great idea. Hope the ground breaking stays on schedule and starts this year as planned. About the Scribd document I realised our uploads are being made private by default. It is because I am using Apture (it allows rich embedding), and they use the API to upload. Will reach out to them and fix it ASAP.

Actually this is not a \\\'shared office\\\' or co-location space per se, although I am sure the incubation aspects of the project will include that. This seems from the project document a multi-purpose project. Besides office spaces offer an address for business registration, good internet connectivity (I currently suffer wit multiple connections), secretarial services at subsidized rates until a company matures and can afford it. Do not underestimate what a few $100 saved per month can do for a boot-strapped startup. Its also a good place to share ideas and meet potential partners. What would your ideal tech park include?

Ghana's Tech Hub. : Google Maps domains launched in 30 African Countries

Well if you have a business and you want to list it then head over to the Local Business Center (http://www.google.com/local).

There are three main things to keep in mind;

1. You need a Gmail account (http://gmail.com)

2. You need a physical address, which may mean finding out street name information before starting to list your business. Ask around for the name or look out for a road sign. Although Google will allow you to move the balloon which shows your business location around, its much easier with street info but its not essentially

3.
A telephone number which is used to verify your business listing.

If you are looking for help info try http://bit.ly/9EpXu1. Maybe this needs a step-by-step article.

I also think USB 3.0 may win because of the installed base of Windows/Linux. Apple tried pushing FireWire hard but kind of gave up on it. Intel may be the main partner of LightPeak to determine because they also have a significant market share. We'll see.....

There will probably be a time especially with the new National ID system. The main question is when, especially since we never like to do things piecemeal but go all out and then run out of funding or complain the initial capital requirement is too HUGE!! What the police should start is training in electronic and computer based law enforcement, so say in 5 years when we get money do the system everyone will be comfy else... somebody go hit delete.....
