Amy, thank you so much. Good to hear and it really was such a fun, nice, and friendly group of people. Thanks again.

Thanks, Randy. The speech went well. We didn't get to the Poe house...next time. Hope you had a good time in Korea.

Emily, but aren't they kind of awful in Jane Eyre, too? The people? When I read The Flightt of Gemma Hardy, I seriously thought, oh, she's making everything more harsh than it was in the original novel.

belle, oh, good. I don't feel so freakish now. It is bleak...people are just mean, mean, and then when you think they can't get any meaner, they do.

Burgundy Ice, thanks for following. I want to here what it is you love about Jane Eyre, in spite of the priggishness and Rochester. I want to love Jane Eyre...the real one. Maybe if I read it again in 10 years time I'll find I love it.

pickygirlfoodfilmfiction, I think you're right about Wide Sargasso Sea. I just started re-reading Jane Eyre, and it's surprising how closely Margot Livesey sticks to the original...much more than I remembered, but it still just didn't work for me.

I like that..."I have the time to read and fit my life around that." That seems to be what we do for all the things we think are really important.

I hate that indecisive, not sure what to read feeling. Hope you found something to read today that was sufficiently satisfying.

@Emily, it's pronounced like the farm machinery. It's kind of fun just to say I think because of that connection....the Combine might also be like a large piece of farm machinery, though I can't remember at the moment what a combine does. There's certainly nothing like a good sports triumph film.
