GazetteOnline.com : Dog dies in Cedar Rapids mobile home fire

I consider a living creature priceless and my dog is like my child. Just because an animal cannot speak the language of people (who can be amazingly insensitive) does not mean that they do not love and feel... Inanimate objects are of no value whatsoever.

GazetteOnline.com : Group asks council to allow backyard chickens in Cedar Rapids

Chickens make great pets and hens don't make much noise. People already keep rabbits in town and chickens are as cleanly as the rabbits. The real problem will be all the people who let their large dogs run loose in the neighborhood after dark. Those dogs will rip open the chicken coops, just like they do the rabbit hutches. We tried to keep a rabbit for our daughter in a hutch and the neighbor turned their german shepherd loose every night after 10pm. The bunnies didn't last a week. This is a problem throughout the community, people letting their dogs run loose when they think no one will notice. Perhaps dogs over 25lbs should be prohibited, not the chickens.

I'm with you, David. The "robbers" got robbed for a change. I do also feel sorry for the clerk, though, and am relieved she was not harmed.

That's okay, I'm always glad to hear when a crook doesn't get away with his crime.

Good article! One thing to add...don't drink caffiene before going out because it constricts blood vessels which can be dangerous for your heart.
