How do you know he paid into it? Either way, its irrelevant. Government support should be shut off if you are a fugitive. How much sense does it make for government to be funding someone and chasing them at the same time??? That's insane and a a waste of money on 2 fronts. You should either use the funding mechancism to find the criminal, or cut off the funding to help flush them out.. Just stupid!

One more counterpoint to those that say that it won't decrease the black market.. If it were legal, why would I risk buying illegal pot, particularly if I have to drive several miles to meet my supplier when I could go to the liquor store that is 2 blocks away and get it without worry? And I would get a selection of different kinds, not just what a dealer happened to have on hand. You anti people talk about how weed makes people lazy (although I've seen no evidence of that) - wouldn't that convenience alone cause lazy people to go to their neighborhood liquor store? That, the selection, and the lack of worry about reprisal?

"how far down the road will it be before we see users sue makers like we have in cigarette cases" What would they sue for? http://www.webmd.com/lung-cancer/news/20060523/po... You can find studies like these everywhere.. Have you ever heard of someone dying because of smoking a natural plant (tobacco is not natural the way it is sold). I don't smoke, but I think you are out of your mind if you don't vote to legalize it. Even the Clatsop DA in the video repeatedly said that it was probably safer than alcohol. This coming from a guy who wishes we could outlaw alcohol. He also said that it would lead to an explosion of smokers. That's not at all what happened in Amsterdam (among residents) and use has actually decreased among young people. We learn from history that we do not learn from history......

KATU - Portland, OR : Sheriff\'s Association: Oregon\'s medical marijuana program out of control | Local & Regional | KATU

There is so much ignorance about marijuana thanks to to DuPont and their corporatist video (Reefer Madness), and Harry Anslinger the government schill that claimed he turned into a bat while testing marijuana on himself for the government. Asslinger testified before the government against the AMA who said they found no health effects from pot. I don't smoke pot at all (anymore), but anti-pot people are some of the most ignorant on the planet. It is a purely natural plant!. Should we outlaw nutmeg? Yes, you can get effed up on nutmeg with the proper dose.... I've also heard you can get looped up by eating an entire head of parsley (never tried).. The point is this... Everybody that wants to smoke pot, particularly in Oregon where it is decriminalized, already is. Quite frankly, any drug people want to use is already being done despite laws. Did people quit drinking during prohibition? Hell no, and drugs were still legal then.. I do not believe in victimless crimes. If people want to escape reality, even to the point of ruining their reality, I don't care as long as they don't infringe on anybody else's rights. That's freedom...

These people aren't getting headaches and the smell is probably miniscule. Its just another example of intolerance which leads to people voting away the rights of others. These people don't realize that their stupidity could lead to them having their rights voted away too if people "make a stink" about something they are doing. Live and let live!

I agree with everything you said, but want to take it a step further. The use of drugs is a personal decision and on its own volition is a victimless crime. Hence not a crime. If there is a victim as the result of the use of drugs, then that crime should be dealt with, otherwise we should live free to make our own decisions and mistakes. Legislating morality never works and laws don't prevent people from doing what they want to do anyway. Everybody in Oregon that wants to smoke pot already smokes pot. The laws will never stop this. Its not for me (I like to drink), but I would die defending your right to do it.

As has been stated, people that want to smoke already do and most of them already drive. Legalization or no, legalization is not going to change that, despite what the concerned citizen in the article says. If you need further proof, look at what happened in the Netherlands after legalization and what has happened since. As for driving, you might want to do one of the following.. 1) Google this: study driving on marijuana 2) Read the U.S. department of transportation's study of driving under the influence of weed. http://www.druglibrary.org/schaffer/misc/driving/... Particularly note that it results in "slight" impairment and a tendency to drive slower and not tailgate. Study after study shows that driving under the influence of pot doesn't even compare percentage wise with alcohol. Other studies (including ones you can watch on shows like Mythbusters) show that driving tired and using a cell phone are even worse than driving drunk. All of these types of bad drivers are already out there anyway. So take that argument away, why are we not legalizing it? And for the record, I don't smoke...

KOMO - Seattle, WA : Police open fire at pack of pit bulls after teen bitten | Federal Way News

I was tore up by a rabid Irish Setter as a kid and repeatedly chased by a pack of German Shepherds. Not to mention the 8 foot tall (not really) Great Dane named "Slay" that roamed our neighborhood. Needless to say, I have plenty of lingering dog fears and they aren't my favorite. Unfortunately, I married a woman whose entire family and circle of friends are pit bull owners. I have to say that those pit bulls have been slowly easing my fears over the years. They are teddy bears. I don't think it is the breed's fault - it is the motives of many of the people that buy them for particular reasons. And in no case, should 5 dogs of any type be freely roaming anywhere. The owner should be HEAVILY penalized and the dogs put down.

Ah, sanity coming to Oregon? I don't smoke, but I believe that the immediate increase in murders that coincided and have persisted since the war on drugs was started needs to end. Not to mention the fact that this "war" created street gangs, crack, and all sorts of other unintended consequences. One of my favorite quotes is, " We learn from history that we do not learn from history". Alcohol prohibition should have taught us this lesson. To take it a step further, I believe that if there is no victim, there is no crime.
