You're right....the pool video was funny, too. I think they should make this a series.

I like what you\'ve got to say man. i agree. Let me ask you this...how do you think the church can become these things? Also, how do you think the church can create an experience of participation?

Awesome story of God's provision. I look forward to reading about your experiences and pray that God will do incredible works through you while you're there.

I'm intrigued and looking forward to what Soul City Church is going to do. They have a heck of a team pulling this together and will do some awesome things.

I will say this...there needs to be more churches like this here. I know there are tons of churches here in the Bible Belt, but let's face...having a church and being the Church is different. There's almost an "unlearning Christianity" of sorts that has to happen here because people associate being a Christian with their semi-regular, church service attendance. A case might even be made that it makes it harder to make real disciples here...real, 7 day a week disciples. Either way...there is a huge need in both.

Like I said, I'm really looking forward to seeing what Soul City does as well. I know of at least one church that is on it's way to getting off the ground this coming year in Columbia that hopes to implement some similar, yet unique ideas. :)

Good post Marcus.

Just shooting straight, I think that excellence and authenticity are both essential. Let's face it, churches that constantly emphasize that it's more about the "heart" or "authenticity" than excellence, probably have music and/or vocalists that suck. On the other hand, if a church constantly talks about their excellence and how it's paramount, they may in fact be disguising some deeper heart issues.

I'm not going to lie...if there isn't excellence, I'm not going to keep attend the church even if it's authentic. And vice versa. I say keep both standards high or don't do it at all. :)
