I have to agree with Cerui. Bozo didn't implode due to the game. Both T and Q left the game for other reasons besides the game. And from experience I can say BOZO was the best damn PVP corp I ever had the privilege of trying out for.

Yes, I do have an awesome wifey. She still won't play EvE, but at least she makes me cool schwag. Nice site BTW. Glad to see more Grrls in game these days. Offsets the giant levels of testosterone floating around New Eden.

Industrialisms : Interact With My Planets

I might give that model a try on my 6th planet when I train the skills up. I'm not really going to change the current planets too much now, I want to run them for a couple months and see how my calculations match up with reality. But I'll definitely keep that in mind, it seems like a decently efficient way to set up.

Cool. That's good to know Uwe. I'm supplying all for 1 small faction tower, and some for 1 large faction tower right now. I have a little room for error in my formulas, and it also depends on WH vs low sec vs 0.0 yields. It also heavily depends on not letting your extractors get behind, if you don't reset them each night for example.

Industrialisms : Agony Unleashed PVP-Advanced: Afterthoughts

Basically no. Our orders as we jumped through were to hit our optimal at best speed and do our thing. Decloaking last might have helped a little, or given the rest of the fleet time to make it to us before getting the lighter hulled ships popped immediately. All in all I was just unlucky, but then we didn't have the initiative going into this particular sortie either. The first ones in are usually the fodder for the enemy cannons.

Rifter Drifter : New Agony Basic Class, More PvP Scholarships

I really enjoyed the PVP Advanced class I just took. I've done the BASIC and Wolfpacks already last year, and the new structure of two days instead of one is much better than the one long 8 to 10 hour day. I wrote about the experience here: http://www.thinkdreams.com/eve/2010/03/19/agony-u... and here: http://www.thinkdreams.com/eve/2010/03/29/agony-u... if anyone is interested. They are really great classes and worth every ISK you pay. The course materials alone are worth the entry fee - very detailed and well-written. And to top it off, their FCs are a model for what every budding FC should aspire to be like. It's very cool you're sponsoring PVP Basic students to go. Figured you might want to have a sort of review of their higher level classes as well to add to your list, so I posted this comment here.

Yup. that was my wing. we were called first to go in, and popped me and a couple others. interestingly enough, one of the others in my group is a corpmate of Lockefox who\\\'s also a member of the tweetfleet. He\\\'s the LEIG industry guy. small universe. :) I did take away from that engagement how fragile a Blackbird is, and how quickly they fold, which is why you always want to be at range when you warp in to a battle. There was not much choice at that gate you were camping though, since we jumped into you. Had fun though. Really great experience.

Diary of a pod pilot : [OOC] Feedburner, tags, Wordpress, some help wanted!

I've seen other people that have kept their cloud hosted blogs alive for the sole purpose of a last post of: This Blog Has Moved link to workaround the inability to redirect Blogger blogs. A good example is Casiella's original blog hosted on Wordpress: http://eclipticrift.wordpress.com/. The first post on that main page is a link to his new blog: http://rift.chromebits.net/ I have self-hosted my web sites for the entire time I've been on the web. It's just a more practical and flexible solution. I understand that some people don't want to have the hosting fees, but web site hosting has come down drastically in price over the last few years (I remember paying $34 bucks a year for domain names and roughly $30 for web hosting per month, and on top of that dial up fees). Self-hosting would be the way to go if you want ultimate customization. I'm pretty sure there's already a plug in for what you want to do, and if not, the twitter community will be able to help solve it for you. I'll be glad to help where I can. And if you want to know, yes, I use Anmith's Lonetrek Hosting at lonetrekhosting.com. I was debating as to whether I should put a shameless plug in, i'm not necessarily into making this into a sales pitch, but it really is worth the money if you are looking. I've been very happy with the service. I use Vent as well with them (I have a 10 slot server). Please feel free to let me know if you need help.

Keldars Quips : Too Hot, Too Cold, or Just Right?

You're right. It does sound nice on paper, offering Vent/TS slots for ISK. I just don't know in the long run how you'll be able to continue offering ISK for Ventrilo/Teamspeak. Depending on how you are financing your operation, your reliance on ISK income to pay for your voice services will eventually not be profitable from what I can see. Since ISK is not a transferable currency to real-world money, that assumes you're financing the Vent/TS server through your web hosting operating costs, or borrowing from your RL cash paying Vent/TS customers. Your prices for Vent/TS at the 10 user level are roughly $1 less than some of the other Vent providers (DarkstarLLC, Typefrag) - assuming you're paying month-to-month and not buying into 24 months (which is where you net better savings). Most of the other Vent providers I looked at don't require setup fees, so you don't want to alienate customers by doing something the other people aren't doing. Donations aren't the answer either, as then you are relying on an imperfect model. Most people won't donate. Some will. Will the ones that do be enough to sustain your business model? The bill for your rack provider will come due whether you have donations or not, and you'll have to consider that each month. Some months may be leaner than others. Plus you'll be solicting customers regularly, and some may see that as an annoyance having to be asked to donate every month. Practically, you won't be able to offer too many ISK for Vent/TS before it becomes difficult to stay in the black. You can offer some, but then what happens when all your offerings are full for that pricing? You'll then have to take it away from other customers. I would think it would be best to not offer ISK for Vent/TS right off the bat, and model your services off what everyone else is doing. Remember that the key to remaining profitable in business is differentiating yourself in some way from the myraid of choices out there. Everyone has the right price, or can make themselves the cheapest. It's maintaining the long term customer relationships that is the trick. If you offer your services for cheap, you want to retain the customer's loyalty for the long term to ensure that you remain profitable so you can increase your service offerings, upgrade systems, and add staff if necessary. Everyone says they have the lowest price, but as a customer I look for the customer service/support behind the pricing to ensure I have a host that does what they say they can do and is willing to help me when something isn't right. The ToS discussion on Twitter made me think twice about glossing over the terms of service documents (which I usually don't read), and I'll be more diligent about that in the future myself. I usually end up focusing on the user experience side of things, because for me, customer service is way more important than how cheap you are. Obviously there's a threshold I'm willing to stay under price-wise, but to a certain extent price is generally about the same for everyone when you're looking at hosting. I will pay a little more for better customer service. I also assume that if you're willing to help your customers and support them well, than you usually will go that extra mile when something is wrong, and that is of great value to me. Of course, this is just an opinion. I'd be curious to see what the others might say. I come from the experience I have with helping my wife run her internet business, and also watching how the company I work for as a Network Administrator does its business. The company I work for is a small fish in a big pond, but we're doing good things in the industry I work in, and we try to do things differently in ways that the customers take notice of.

Life in Low Sec : Is Hellcats Dying?

I care, and I'll post that as my real player character name, not anonymously. If you cared (or didn't care in your case) Mr. Eve Player, you'd post with your real player character name too. Mynxee, you do a great service to the EvE community, as does CK, and the host of other people I'm proud to know on the tweet fleet and through the various blogs. Keep it up. And remember, just the same as CK, it's your damn blog, you can say what the h-e-double-hockey-sticks you want.

Industrialisms : The Amarr Hat of Awesomeness +2

Stan, my wife supports my gaming habit for EvE. I usually am on after the kids go to bed (8PM EST or so), and that gives me time to spend with the family during the day, and that time at night is "my time". She married a geek, she knew that going in, and she gets to knit (her hobby) at the same time. So it's a win-win situation. It's cool in that she's actually listening when I explain sovereignty concepts, my ships, industrial stuff, etc. to her.
