JonatsGonats.com : 5 Basic Financial Investment Instruments

JT, you trading forex? :) I only have tried trading forex in a simulation mode and I feel I would need more time invested in forex trading. Forex is more risky than trading equity markets as the relative potential gains to losses is substantially high, hence a lot more time is needed in my experience so far. Maybe you could tell us more about forex and your thoughts about it.

The ticker is just a tool that tells us what stocks are being sold or bought at what price and by how many shares. I cannot tell you for sure about how other investors think... it could be any reasons on their mind. Going back to the pen example, if you have 1 pen bought at $5 and there are only 5 of you with such pens and there are 20 buyers out there. Would you rather sell it at $6 or would you rather tell those buyers to give you their best bid to buy your pen. Remember there are only 5 pens (supply) and 20 buyers (demand). The same thing happens in the ticker.

I can only think of the short term right now. EDC will need to find a solid footing soon where it will not be sold down any further. From there, EDC should consolidate for a while. To go beyond 5.30 or even reach 6.00, EDC should surpass 4.45 first before we even think about those higher prices. Then again, I am a short term trader basing on momentum of the stock (demand > supply). Why do you expect this to be at 5.30?

Ric, we have to go back to basic fundamentals of demand and supply. When EDC was around 4.40, 4.45 the demand and supply were at break even hence it could not push the price any higher. However when big brokers who had been accumulating the stock decided to sell and take profit from it, we had an increase supply of shares dumped while demand got overwhelmed with the shares being sold. As a result, many holders who saw this would not want to hold their shares as well and took profit as well. Well, if you are a buyer you wouldn't want to buy it at 4.45 right? Why would you buy at that price when many are selling already. Demand evaporated at 4.45. When the stock went down to 4, 3.70, 3.50, and now at 3.30. There are people thinking hey the stock at that price may be cheap enough already hence demand begins to build up again. It is a basic demand supply level that determines the price. If I sold you a pen for $5, you like to sell at $6 right? What if 100 others would sell at $5.5 and buyers demand to buy it at $4.5. What do you think should happen?

Hi Kathleen, PX will have a resistance at 6.00 as well as the 200 Moving Average at that price level. Next resistance is at 6.30. As for PCOR, resistance is at 5.90. Hope this helps.

Hi Kathleen, I have updated my post on April 13, 2009. But to answer your question, PNB corrected today at 13.75 and Atlas failed to sustain upward momentum past 5.10. I would say both stocks had a very bad day with the chart telling me that both stocks formed a peak today and might expect a consolidation or further correction. So it is not okay to buy PNB at 15 and AT at 5.00 right now. As for PX and PCOR. I will catch up with you on this as soon as I can analyze their charts. Let us just hope market sentiment would be okay tomorrow.

Hi Ric, most of the selling pressure that brought EDC down today by 65 cents were from selling done through Deutsche and Macquarie brokers. You are correct, by sold down, I mean selling in large volumes wherein support for demand was crushed. Wealth was the broker that had been accumulating EDC shares for quite sometime already and first began to sell its shares last April 8 and today as well. I hope this clarifies my post :) Feel free to post more questions Ric, I will try to help as much as I can.
