> a formal restore will fix any issue if i do mess it up yes IF you are OK with being forced to update to a version of the iPhone Firmware that cannot be jailbroken Also Yes, IF you have the skills and blobs to restore to an earlier version of the firmware, that IS jailbreakable Im sure you know all this, just being pedantic

> i only mess with the Verizon iPhone 5, NOT the ATT one. sorry, I should have said, the changes you make to be able to use Tmobile, disable your ability to use other networks including ATT and Verizon, and Sprint, afaik.. maybe someone more informed will elaborate anyway, if youre on Tmobile, it does not matter if your phone does not work on Verizon, or ATT or whatever, right?

Thanks for sharing the link. Seems you can now use an ATT iPhone or Verizon iPhone to access just part of the Tmobile network: (not sure why anyone would want a partial solution like that). Also, nobody has posted this warning: IF you modify your iPhone to work on Tmobile, it will no longer work on ATT.. Personally, I would wait for a more complete solution. Here a couple of snips from the link krissakandra offered: "it won’t make your AT&T device compatible with T-Mobile’s speedy 3G DC-HSDPA on the 1700MHz band nor will your Verizon iPhone be fooled into accepting T-Mobile’s LTE bands…" "customers using a CDMA iPhone 5 (model A1429) from Verizon, Sprint and other regional CDMA carriers can use T-Mobile’s 21Mbps HSPA+ network, though not its DC-HSDPA or LTE networks."

Apple maps sucks, lacks bus routes, and the colors dont let you see side roads well, and you can barely see traffic. Google maps is worthless because it cant see my contacts (thats plain dumb!, other apps can find my contacts, like Mapquest and Waze). I recommend against FW 6.x because you lose the original integrated google maps app.

> is their any real reason to update to the 6.1.2 and rejailbreak again? not in my opinion, I dont use Microsoft Exchange Callendar "Apple has released iOS 6.1.2 to fix a bug with Microsoft Exchange Calendar."

well... update ATT is throttling me for the rest of the month. My usage updated from 2500 mb to 5100 mb of usage overnight. I did watch a couple netflix movies, but mostly I think ATT's data usage updates are not very up to date. Anyway, Im throttled to a <.5 mbps data rate for the rest of the month. Back to using wifi.. oh well

I started Tethering with Att iPhone 5 using TetherMe when evasi0n first came out. I have used 2500 mb of data halfway through my month. I have grandfathered Unlimited Data, which allows 5mb before throttling. So far Att has not sent me a tethering warning. I have tethered for at least 4 consecutive hours per day, for over a week, as a test whether to cancel my cable internet. So far, it looks like for my usage, I could cancel my cable internet and use my cellular plan instead. For my area, my Cell data is similar in speed to my cable data. I have been able to watch netflix on my apple tv, using my iPhone 5 as the WiFi connection, and I have been able to connect my MacBookPro to my iPhone 5 hotspot, and surf the web and watch netflix also. And one of my kids uses their iPhone 4 as a WiFi hotspot to connect to the internet with a Wifi only model, iPad Mini. Loving TetherMe, thanks to evasi0n

I am very grateful to the mods on this blog. Thanks for helping me sort through my issues with my evasi0n jailbreak of my iPhone 5. I figured out how to make KillBackground work, it needed me to go to the settings app and turn on the kill icon, by default it is not enabled. Im especially grateful for the evasi0n jailbreak because it has given me access to tethering. Im using TetherMe, and it works great now that the jailbreak is out. (I was not fast enough to get any of the tethering apps in the AppStore, before they got pulled). Since I like eating crow, I want to admit I was mistaken when I claimed there would be no Jailbreak for current issue firmware, and that jailbreaks are always one firmware revision behind. I was mistaken, the evaders have delivered a uniquely useful current firmware jailbreak, and it works great! I recently tried to install ProTube 2, the result was my iPhone 5 froze at the Apple boot up logo, repeatedly, until I had to Restore my Phone, and rejailbreak it, etc. All is well without ProTube 2. evasi0n jailbroken and imei unlocked iPhone 5 on ATTUsa

> That has nothing to do with the performance of the evasi0n jailbreak thanks for helping me understand better, so, the problem at AOL and Vodafone are NOT evasi0n related, just stock FW 6.1 bugs.

> can i update my 4s yes, but there is a problem with evasi0n on that hardware: from clarified: "Vodafone is warning iPhone 4S customers not to upgrade to iOS 6.1 due to a bug that affects 3G performance. We’re aware of an issue caused by Apple iPhone 4s handsets that have been upgraded to iOS 6.1 which impacts performance on 3G."

I don't know what Im doing wrong. I tried using SBSettings, it kept dimming my phone to full dark, so I removed it. I tried RemoveBackground by itself, it reboots my phone, but does not remove task bar icons. I tried KillBackground, and saw no skull icon to activate it. I just tied installing KillBackground again, with no SBSettings installed and no RemoveBackground installed. No icons appear on the task bar to KillBackground. So, I still don't know how to get it to work. I also tried reinstalling RemoveBackground, after removing KillBackground. When I open Remove Background it gives some settings options, but none clear my task bar. I then tried configuring activator to use a double tap of the status bar. That did not remove my task bar apps, instead it reboots my phone in safe mode. So I failed with RemoveBackground too. Im sure there is something Im missing here, just not sure what yet. Suggestions or links to educate myself better, most welcome.
