I'm guessing that now his days as a resident of Norway are numbered.

Islam in Europe : Spain: Non-Spaniards put more into welfare state than they get out

If they also take into account the costs of incarceration, then the numbers might be a bit different. Also, who refuses a pension? Immigrants aren't using them because most are recent arrivals. In decades to come, they will use them just like everyone else.

Islam in Europe : Netherlands: Immigrants make up two thirds of emigrants

This should not be considered terribly unusual. After the peak of immigration from Europe into the US, part of the untold story is that huge numbers of them eventually went back to Europe. Incidentally, I can't help but feel that this growing "intolerance" that they feel, is often an intolerance of the subjugation of women and gays, implementing shariah law, and honor killings. Certainly, the Netherlands is very "intolerant" of these issues. Finally, when you are talking about one of the most densely populated countries on Earth, I see emigration as a good thing, not a bad thing.

Islam in Europe : Sweden: Doctor assaulted 'for being a man'

The article doesn't mention the national origin, religion, or ethnicity of the attackers, possibly out of political correctness. However, it's pretty safe to assume that they are Muslim.

Islam in Europe : Malmö: Muslims voting for anti-immigrant parties by mistake

This is ridiculous. Why are people voting if they cannot speak Swedish? Don't you have to be able to speak Swedish before becoming a citizen? Or are they allowing non-citizens to vote? As far as I'm concerned, if someone can't understand Swedish, and don't understand which party is what, then they deserve what they get if they vote for the wrong party.

Islam in Europe : France: Rioting after police kill suspected robber

It's interesting that this story is here at "Islam in Europe", when every news report bends over backwards to avoid mentioning that the rioters are predominantly Muslim.

Islam in Europe : Almere: Immigrant children fear Wilders

He was struck by the incident, because the boys are right: they should be allowed to quote a politician. But Wilders' remarks go against school rules.
I don't see why this should be such a dilemma. Certainly, politicians can frankly discuss sexual matters, but that doesn't mean that children should be discussing them in school. Also, these students seem strangely fixated on what would happen if headscarves were banned. They should also be asking themselves what would happen to free speech if Geert Wilders loses his current court case.

Islam in Europe : Norway: Pakistani girls lead double life

I was honest a few years ago and asked my dad if I could go on a trip with girlfriends, but he flatly said 'no'. After that I thought there's no point in being honest,' says 25 year old 'Huma'.
Aside from the cultural/religious problems here, it's ludicrous in the extreme that a 25 year old person needs to ask permission from her parents to do anything. Just move out and get your own place if you have to. Your friends can move in together. This isn't Iran or Saudi Arabia where women have to get permission from a male relative to do anything. You are legal adults in Norway.

PoliGazette : Defense Contractor Violates First Amendment

As a soldier myself, I'll say that It might be a bad policy, but how is it in any way a violation of the first Amendment? It doesn't "establish a religion". Moreover, the US military has chaplains, and they even distribute bibles to soldiers. Certainly however, it's not appropriate for military equipment, and it just creates another distraction where we didn't need one. However, a private manufacturer has the right to put any inscription they want on their products. However, if they have broken any terms of their contract with the military, then they need to recall the scopes and issue new ones.

PoliGazette : Progressives Right On Immigration

I'm a little late to the discussion, but better late than never. Jason Arvak said: >"So far, exactly NONE of the anti-immigration people on this thread have offered actual arguments. The fact that your side must apparently rely on nothing more than sweeping empty assertions, personal attacks, and the occasional bit of juicy racism kind of reinforces my view rather than undermining it" And you are relying on little more than cries of "racism" against your opponents, which is the hallmark of a weak argument. I thought Poligazette was above this nonsense. Yes, of course many people oppose illegal immigration for racist reasons. But many people support it for racist reasons as well. I seriously doubt Mexican groups like MALDEF, MEChA, or "La Raza" (which literally means "the race"!) would push so hard for immigrant rights if the immigrants were mostly Chinese instead of Mexican. Mexicans certainly don't do much for illegal immigrants in their own country (who are deported, and denied services such as free schooling, unlike in the USA). Now let's discuss your actual evidence, the Center for American Progress study. The problem isn't just that it was put out by a liberal think tank. The problem is that I can quote you dozens of other very credible studies that would either support or refute this one, depending on who commissioned it. It's all in how you count the numbers. But even assuming that study is 100% correct (and that's a huge stretch), there are other problems: 1. Allowing people to “jump the line” with an amnesty is inherently unfair for people who have gone through the process legally (including my spouse, incidentally). 2. The USA is already over 300 million people. Shouldn’t we be looking at stablizing that? Even in the USA, the population growth is not sustainable forever. We are already in the middle of a fresh water crisis, particularly in the Southwest. And keep in mind that transplanting a person from a third world country to the USA increases their carbon footprint several times over. It’s not pretty, but it’s the truth. 3. On a related note, you use the example of Japan struggling to find ways to take care of it's aging population. But the alternative you are proposing, the pyramid scheme to keep increasing population numbers to pay for retirees, can't go on forever and will eventually explode in your face. 4. The last amnesty under President Reagan, which this study draws heavily on, was supposed to be the last one. It also had the net effect of increasing illegal immigration afterward, because now immigrants believed they could just look forward to the next amnesty. In the political deal, it was coupled with strong enforcement measures to ensure that it would be a one-time amnesty only. But the enforcement was largely ignored by both parties. Enough said.
