When Moses and Elijah were with Jesus they were talking about his departure which was to happen in Jerusalem. So, why were they talking about this?? I think they were encouraging Jesus to stay the course. They were hereos of the faith, and they had come to give Jesus encouragement to stay the course. We will face many things in our lives that we will need the encouragement of another. Let us offer ourselves to live in a way that brings life to others. This morning my thoughts were caught up in verse 39 “Return to your home, and declare how much God has done for you.” And he went away, proclaiming throughout the whole city how much Jesus had done for him. I wonder how often we actively proclaim how much Jesus has done for us. Jesus began to read that passage proclaiming that the Spirit of the Lord was upon Him and he had been sent to proclaim liberty to the captives. I would have been thinking who the heck was this masked man and was he serious? I wonder if I would have gotten over my disbelief and seen God at work in the synagogue that morning. The truth is we are all guilty of being thieves, greedy, swindlers and so on.... Every day brings opportunities to turn from God's plan and follow our own desires and so much of the time we simply get caught up following our desires. I'm not trying to hurt anyone, and yeah I do tend to give into my selfish desires. Lord, thank you that we have been washed, sanctified, and justified for your glory.
