: The Alarmist Presidency

There is a small island just off the coast of Michigan's Upper Peninsula called "Mackinac Island". When automobiles were first brought there by ferryboat in the early 1900's, they spooked the horses so much that the island's fathers banned them, and they have remained thus banned ever since. The place is now a tourist attraction, where tens of thousands go each summer to eat fudge, wear funny tourist hats, and see what life was like before there were cars. Either you walk to your hotel, ride a bike, or walk. Or, ride a horse. Even servicing the tiny island, one thing there is, is horse poop. Tons of it, everywhere. The public works department does an outstanding job sweeping it up (-which requires battalions of men with big brooms), but it is ubiquitous, even though they thoroughly wash the streets each night. Road Apples get on your shoes, or pants if it is raining, or on your bicycle tires. This is a peek at the radical environmentalists vision for America. People that populate Obama's EPA want to re-ruralize the United States, into a weird mixture of post-modern agrarian life. But, being thoroughly disconnected with life outside of hyper-urban America where they all (-to a person) actually live, have no waking thought of what that sort of life might actually look like. Sure, lets ban all of the chemicals, the petroleum products, the cheap, abundant electricity, the automobiles, the clean, efficient, miracle-producing hospitals. But what would it actually LOOK like? It would look like Mackinac Island, with its legions of street sweepers swatting at disease-carrying flies, and vast mountains of horse-poop. The difference is, folks who tire of Mackinac Island get on the ferry boat and leave, with an ice-cream cone and a bag of fudge for the mainland. Sadly, though, in Obama's re-ruralized American Utopia, there is no ferryboat back to land. We're stuck here.

When your society aborts away two-thirds of the past two or three generations, when the culture puts no value on kinship and family, when the mainstream entertainments laugh at your long-established social norms and traditions, when your children are encouraged to remain adolescents well into adult-hood, and when your representatives in Government create a vast levithan of a welfare-state that is completely underwater fiscally, you have a situation that implores immigration policies that welcome the low-skilled and fecund. This is the beginning of the Long Night in the western World, and folks like Gillian Duffy can see it from her vantage point on the ground, unlike the elites way up in their Ivory Towers, who can only see each other with their telescopes.

The father of a good friend of mine fought at the Bay of Pigs. He became one of the captured Cuban exile patriot freedom fighters, whose release was achieved by the $56 million dollar ransom paid by the United States to Castro just before Christmas in 1962. This man I knew, my friends father, had a photograph that was taken of him (along with several others) standing in a line being reviewed by JFK at the Orange Bowl on December 29th, 1962. My friend's father (who, like so many of the others who fought so bravely against the Soviet-supplied Castroites, was very young, only 20 years old at the time) can be seen in the photograph, as I recall about second or third from the right. John Kennedy was shaking hands in the photo with another man, but my friends father was staring at his shoes, his right hand crumpled into a tight fist. "It took every bit of discipline I had not to punch the son-of-a-bitch in the face when he shook my hand. And I'm not kidding", he said. I was privileged to know this man. His name was Miguel. He has since passed away, at the very young age of 56. He carved out a good life here in America, and he seldom spoke of Cuba. "I'm an American now. As long as Castro exists, Cuba doesn't exist. It's a penal colony" he'd say. The history of American treatment of Cuba, starting with the foreign policy of Franklin Roosevelt has been one of shame, ignominy, cowardice, greed and murder. It is what should be the most beautiful nation on the face of the earth. Instead, it is a hell-hole, and the news media-entertainment complex and the leftist academic culture continues to portray it as a something noble. It is not. It is a festering boil on the carbuncle of world socialism. Someday soon, we will have a leadership with moral clarity in Washington, who says enough is enough, we are enforcing the Monroe Doctrine and are wiping out the withered vestiges of Castroism. And Havana will again be free. God Bless the Heroes of the Bay of Pigs.

: Getting Gas Wrong

I can think of no better example of a manufactured crisis than what does, or does not, happen to well water when we attempt to free naturally occurring terrestrial gas. Doesn't the federal government in general, and the Barack Obama in particular, have enough damned problems to take care of without bothering with this sort of crap? To ask the question, of course, is to answer it, especially if you are an authoritarian Maoist statist radical leftist: No, they don't have enough to do. This collection of oligarchical monsters in Washington will not rest until they have utterly destroyed the mercantile underpinnings of this magnificent society. This includes completely benign sources of energy, such as natural gas. Make no mistake: This radical administration despises the traditions of this society, and wants them destroyed-- root, branch and leaf. There is no better expression of the freedom our people enjoy than the free availability of fuels and energy: They provide EVERYTHING our modern society needs to remain, well, free and modern. It is essential for these disgusting, anti-freedom, anti-individual, anti-liberty thugs to limit the availability of all energy and fuel, thus limiting personal mobility and individual movement. As a nation, we really need to wrap our minds around how alien, how foreign the Barack Obama cult is to our American institutions. And, rather like Alice through the looking glass, everything that to normal, liberty-loving Americans that might seem murderous, wantonly destructive, hurtful, petty, ugly and stupid, to Obama is loving, beautiful and adorable. This is especially true of seemingly pedestrian and prosaic things such as natural gas, grocery bags and lightbulbs-- things that are touchstones to a heretofore normal American life. They must be ripped out, and thrown on the Marxist fire of the bourgeoisie. It is truly nothing more complicated (or terrifying) than that.

I'll try a my pitching-wedge at this one... Americans manifestly did NOT vote for the now-emerging Barack Obama's America. They voted for the Barack Obama of the fall 2008 campaign, which was a moderate kind of happy-go-lucky slightly-left of center guy, quite possibly a centrist, but certainly no wild-eyed left-wing radical Stalinist who has emerged. They voted for a Barack Obama that was NEVER vetted, never scrutinized in the media, never asked a tough question, never examined in any biographically meaningful way. What were his grades in college? What is in his medical dossier? Who are his friends (I still have yet to be introduced to anyone who knew him before he emerged in Chicago)? What, exactly, did he mean by "everything is better if you, you know, spread the wealth around"? Why didn't any major media outlet at least ask the very sensible question "can we see your birth certificate, because, after all, you are running for the most powerful position in the world, and it might give a better heft to your possible eventual presidency for such questions to be put to rest?" Why do they still refuse the even ask the question? We were never even treated to an adult conversations about what he believed, other than he wasn't George Bush. Certainly the odious John McCain never pressed him into such a dialog. What about his extreme positions on abortion, reparations, and carbon remediation? What about folks like Reverend Wright, and Billy Ayers, and Father Flager? No, the Obama America voted for was a media creation, a phantom, and now they are stuck with hard-core reality. But, have hope, Scott S: Jimmy Carter, too, laid waste to America. I remember the gas lines, the communist invasion of Afghanistan, the embarrassing cardigan sweaters, the ham-handed stupidity of Carter. I well remember Walter Cronkite intoning every night about "And that's the way it is, Friday, March 11, 1980--the 167th day of Captivity for our Hostages in Iran. This is Walter Cronkite, CBS New, Goodnight".. as if THAT'S the way it ALWAYS WOULD be. Carter's Salt One was a stare-at-your shoes slap-down of the American Diplomatic core. The American President was being attacked by bunny rabbits. Every pundit in the land thought America was over, the Saudis were going to own us, the Russians were going to push us around all they wanted, we were running out of oil (set you thermostat at 58 during the night), the communists in Central America were on the move. We better get used to the lights dimming and then going out. But, then a strong, optimistic, God-fearing Man entered the White House and said, the only thing we have to fear is the instrumentalities of a vast leviathan federal government. He refused to sign bad treaties, he refused to accept that high taxes were a permanent feature of American life, he refused to accept that the Soviet Union wasn't anything but a rotted hulk of an authoritarian evil and that America was the most magnificent place on God's green earth. He was an honest, courageous, middle-American Man. It can, it will, happen again. And when it does, starting in January of 2013, America will again have sunrises that portend a new and invigorating Spring, rather than a dispirited, retrenching Fall. In fact, you could say, it will be Morning in America. So, I put that chip-shot right in the hole.

Actually, Christ made quite a few allusions to being "left alone"... For example, imploring "And when you pray, you must not be like the hypocrites. For they love to stand and pray in the synagogues and at the street corners, that they may be seen by others. Truly, I say to you, they have received their reward. But when you pray, go into your room and shut the door and pray to your Father who is in secret. And your Father who sees in secret will reward you" (Matthew 6:5-6) But, this is getting out a bit in the weeds. You cannot make a salient argument that Christ came into the world to preach that the coercive iron fist of authoritarian government (Caesar? Herod? Robespierre? Obama?) can ever be used to advance the beneficent. Government, by definition (even in elected limited Republics) GOVERNs, it cannot NURTURE. And because the only force available to Government IS coercion, Christ, I think, t would most assuredly stand against using the instrumentalities of coercion to advance even the most beneficent of intentions. Such things are battles of the heart, which is where the fundamental fault line lies between modern constructs of Left and Right are drawn. No one ever born was more cognizant of our own "selfish interests" than Jesus Christ, but he was quite clear: There is only one path to overcome those interests, and it is arrived at through free will and love--not through force and coercion. And, I might hasten to add, the federal levithan long ago dropped even the pretense of helping simply those who are the "least among us". It now has its tenterhooks into all economic strata. Just look at Cash For Clunkers, tax credits of Solar Panels, no-bid contracts to multi-national corporations, and on and on: Our tax and governing policy is an instrument of social construction, not simply a Christian "safety net", and it hasn't been for three or four generations.

Most of the inner urban areas of the Southern Tier of States in our nation are war zones, pitting one violent, brutal bunch of gang thugs against another. Los Angeles this year alone has suffered some 1,200 gang-related murders, most of them unreported and unsolved. Atlanta and Dallas are almost as bad. It is even drifting into places like Louisville and St. Louis. THIS incredible, race-based, violent low-level civil war has been bubbling unreported just below the surface of our national conscience, and it will bubble over at some point. This violent, lawless state of affairs is the apex of Modern LIberal culture: Boys raised without fathers in homes without strong communal faith in the Judeo-Christian Lord, supported by a patrician leviathan federal welfare system, abetted by a rapacious plaintiff's bar, and egged on by a entertainment complex that gets a kick out of lawless, gang chic. THIS is the core constituency of Obama's America. It is anti-family, anti-faith, anti-children, anti-civil society. Why would we expect anything else from this pathetic Man-Child President?? --He is FROM this sick, warped, father-scorning culture. Make no mistake: THIS will be the Gettysburg of this generation, and the "Health Care" bill is analogous to First Bull Run. For those of you who graduated from public schools in the last twenty years, look it up.

This is why people are leaving the Methodist "Church" by the league-full. At the bible-based evangelical church I attend, I see many refugees from area Methodist Churches. In fact, the church I attend, which is non-denominational, has grown from zero members in 1998, to over 3,000 today, most all of them from squishy mainline denominations that preach a foul social justice theology (or even Black Liberation Theology) that has almost nothing to do with American tradition. Further, I am sick of the brush of political violence tarring the political right. For most all of America's modern history (starting with the Civil War) political violence has been a creature and creation of the political left. Lee Harvey Oswald, Sirhan Sirhan, Leon Czsolgas, Charles Giteau, John Wilkes Booth, Sara Jane Moore, Squeaky Fromme and Arthur Bremmer are all assassins, or attempted assassins of American Presidents or candidates, and they were all Democrats or far-left lunatics. This is reflective of the fact that the left cannot win elections in any meaningful way (Ronald Reagan laughs at Barack Obama's 52.7% of the popular vote), so they resort to the courts, to street agitation, or violence. The Right does not resort to such tactics. Instead, we educate, we engage, and we read. All of this because-- we just want to be left alone to raise our families, worship our God, pursue our passions, and not be harassed and tormented by Government. Period. Political Violence doesn't tend to fit into these categories and world-view of the Right-- But Government coercion, Government Force, Government bullying all DO fit into the categories of the statist, Stalinist Left. They are the violent, the hate-filled, the bigoted... They are projecting their own inner demos onto us, and it is transparent as cellophane.

The Tea Party I attended resembled more of a restaurant equipment auction than a "protest" . A few people went up the post office steps, talked about the incomprehensible size of the the Porkulous bill, and we applauded. I went from there to a business meeting. It was about as violent and racist as a Ronald McDonald Birthday Party. And, incidentally, there were as many folks of pink-tinged skin (like me) as there were of brownish-tinged skinned folks. I noticed this because the Tea Party was held during one of the first half-way decent days here in Michigan last spring, and there were quite a few folks in shirt-sleeves. Yep, it was a regular Watts Riot, the Tea Party I attended. The thing that utterly terrifies the Left is that the Right is starting to rouse itself from its singular focus on family and career, and looking over their left flank where the radicals have been fomenting 50 years of angst, hatred, and violence--, and they now see that their magnificent country is truly under siege, and are running to man the battle stations. Keith Olberman is an insignificant pig. So are most of the idiots he giggles with. When he sees the crest of the tidal wave on November 3rd, he won't be so smug.

This is what totalitarians do. Knowing that truth is an absolute defense against slander, the statist liberals changed the subject, and the bootlicking useful idiots in the media dutifully report it. A week ago, the storyline was the truthful one: A rogue, out-of-control Democrat congress had shredded not only the Constitution, but every parliamentary rule to ram through an absolutely corrupt and insolent piece of statist tyranny in open defiance of the American people. They have attempted to divert attention away from this damnable, counterrevolutionary act of belligerence toward a fictive, non-issue where they think they hold a moral position. It won't work in the long run. Everybody knows these supposed incidents were made up out of whole cloth. But, it did do the job of changing the subject, and it pointed out how ruthless these tyrants are, and how supine the GOP can be: Instead of huzzahing and joining in the chorus of "Of Course We Condemn These Acts of Violence", the GOP should be saying, "..well, if things get a bit testy, what do you expect from a populace you Democrats just raped? We think they have a right to be a little outraged when nearly 50% of the private economy has been annexed by the Federal Government in the last 16 months, all of it without so much as one of the Democrat idiots in congress reading the bills that effected this outrage before they voted on them!" The GOP MUST put the Democrats back on their heels, and RIGHT NOW. This crap cannot be countenanced, and if they don't do it, there will be REAL outrage!

NewsReal Blog : Obama Administration Clears Way for Offshore Drilling. Eventually. Sort of. Maybe.

An economic illiterate (ilnumerate?) like Obama doesn't view these energy exploration issues through the prism of economic opportunity, but rather through the matrix of government control. Thus, he doesn't understand the dire, dire consequences of not fully exploiting all of the natural resources to the fullest and most responsible extent possible. All he can envision is conducting Soviet-style industrial policy and bullying people around, and making unctuous political calculations. This man, and this congress is an utter and complete disaster. This pronouncement of his regarding oil leases, while a toe in the right direction of a thousand-mile march our nation requires to fully develop its own sources of fuel, is a fig-leaf he will use in campaign commercials to point out how much of a pro-drilling man he is. Of course, Josef Stalin allowed freedom of worship for about four months for Soviet Jews in 1948, until he decided otherwise. The minute one of his pals in the radical extreme environmental movement chirps about how terrible these leases will be to humankind, ol' Barack will back off, and say, well, he tried. This is what totalitarian philosopher-kings do.

NewsReal Blog : A Potential Roadblock to Conservative Victory

What is it with the governing elites in this country? How many times do we out in fly-over country have to say "Hell No" to something before they give up? What's most puzzling about this latest ramping-up of another illegal immigration debate is that, unlike 2007, this nation is in the thrall of an enormous economic downturn, and most states are facing 10% (or worse) unemployment. To throw out the canard that there are jobs that "Americans won't do" is not only offensive, but factually incorrect in the face of this recession. After the unemployment compensation runs out, there are probably a significant number of legal Americans who would gladly hang dry wall, pick lettuce, and mow lawns-- given the chance. If the GOP wants to hang onto the momentum it has from the unanimous wall it displayed on the very popular opposition to Obamacare, it had better get its mind right, and come to two important conclusions vis-a-vis any debate about illegal immigration reform: 1) The democrat party in Congress has thoroughly corrupted the senatorial system, and it will expose the GOP to charges of allowing themselves to be corrupted, too, if they even give a whiff of helping the democrats pass ANYTHING, especially something as unpopular as giving any rights to people who are in this country illegally. 2) The GOP had better be clear: Americans don't want a damned thing to do with boarder issues, including helping out lawbreakers in this country illegally, until the southern boarder is completely sealed, and the violence and mayhem along the southern tier states is abated. THEN we can discuss what to do with the lawbreakers in our midst.

: Obama’s Disgraceful Conduct Toward Israel

President Obama is a disgrace. He is also an extremely shallow thinker, and his immersion in Anti-Americanism during his college years bubbles to the surface never so egregiously as it does when conducting foreign affairs. He despises the traditions of this nation, especially when it comes to standing up against school-yard bullies that torment loyal allies. Also, as is fitting someone who has emerged from the radical extrusion mills of the American Academy, he is virulently Anti-Jew. He hangs with self-loathing Jews, he deeply admires venomous anti-Semites like the disgusting Jeremiah Wright and the froot-loops Calypso Louis Farrakhan. The disgusting, evil interlude of the Obama Presidency will be besotted with many sad chapters. His ill-treatment of the heroic Benjamin Netanyahu will be especially pathetic.

: Health Care: a Culture Issue

Most people are repelled when they are told what to do, and to do it for no other reason than someone has authority over them. The only time this tension is relieved is when the people trade some measure of freedom for a measure of perceived security. For reference, refer to the government seizing most of the community of Oak Ridge, Tennessee in 1943 for development of the Manhattan Project: "Take my house? Okay, if it helps win the war", was the rough calculation. With Obamacare, there is no such calculation that will result in added security, perceived or otherwise. Herein lay the reason that this stinking pile of statist tyranny called "Obamacare" will not be the law of the land one year from now: Those who have willingly traded their freedom for a slice of security will find out that the security they were promised by the Democrat Congress is a phantom. Worse than that: The new law not only doesn't add any additional security to their everyday lives, it has actually diminished both Freedom and Security. The folks in Oak Ridge eventually found out that they forfeited their homes to defeat the Japanese. The folks in this case of Obamacare will eventually find out they forfeited their health freedom for nothing in return but misery. There will be hell to pay. This isn't 1933 when they passed Social Security; This isn't 1965 when they passed Medicaid. The difference? The amount of raw information in the blood-stream of the body politic. We know more about how this law was created, from its inception, to its incubation, to its birth, than any major piece of legislation ever. We know more about it than the idiots voting on it. Therefore, when the odious , tyrannical elements of this Law bubble to the surface, more people will know more about it more quickly than ever before. Therefore, it will not stand. It is a new age. Just as Mikhail Gorbachev knew he no longer had the power to prevent the United States and the UN from invading Kuwait in the early winter of 1991 because the world had changed, the average, normal, hard-working American knows fundamentally that the United States has changed. We are not facing a normal, Bill Clinton-type Democrat President. We are facing a far left radical with vaporous dreams of being a philosopher-king. There is a true, rebellious scent in the air. The American People are aroused, and will choke off the counterrevolutionaries in Washington. Make book on it.

: The Dismantling of America

Of course this stinking pile of statist tyranny called "Obamacare" will be repealed. There is no question about it. All of the old guardrails are gone, and the old conventional wisdom was broomed in one signing ceremony on Tuesday, March 24th, 2010. We are through the looking-glass now. Nobody thought a similar signing of the Kansas-Nebraska Act on March 19, 1854 would be the beginning of the Civil War--, but it was. Nobody thought when Erich Honicker allowed the Hungarians to open their border with East Germany in 1989, that the USSR would be gone in less than eighteen months. But it was. Human societies abhor stasis. This crap that Barack and Nancy and Harry pulled was nothing so much as a desperate clinging to those old 19th-century Marxist nostrums for 18th-century problems. The very fact that they had to do this against the will of the people, with a cabal of shadowy appointed and otherwise unelected senators should be enormously heartening. There were no massive rallies in the streets demanding free healthcare. Instead, the rallies were for the opposite result. The 21st century will be the century of the Sovereign Individual, and no amount of cattle-herding will stop the advance of individual freedom. Humanity cannot, on the one hand, be allowed to choose between billions of songs on the internet, for example, and expect to be satiated with the choice of One Government Doctor. As Newt Gingrich said, "This Will Not Stand". Believe him. Repeal. Rinse. Repeat.

Well, now--, out of the mouths of babes... I wish your statement was true, to wit: "The Republicans did not believe health care needed reform--that is why they did nothing about it for 8 years". I assume this carefully-worded broadside was regarding the 8 years of the Bush Horror, and not the 4 years of Rutherford Hayes, and the 4 years of William McKinley. The stingy and parsimonious Republicans only managed to peek inside their cobwebbed change-purse and pull out $400 billion for a prescription drug program that covers just about everyone, except those unfortunates between the ages of 23 and 55. And they also made proposals that were blocked by the Femocrats (I don't apply this moniker as a means to incite: The Democrat Party is overwhelming supported by women) to fix the Medicare reimbursement to doctors and hospitals in an attempt to broaden access. I opposed this crap when the Republicans proposed it, as well; I happen to think as soon as you begin insisting that healthcare (or drugs, or what have you) is a "right" you must enslave at least SOME people (doctors, primarily) to PROVIDE for that right. Doors of this sort have a way of swinging in both directions.
