hey Skip. Love your idea of "Hopework!" Maybe other people will commit to reviewing the notes and bringing up some of the Big Ideas, that would be fantastic! I try to chime in each week and tie my comment back to the notes, which I will usually review 1-2 days before the call. Awesome energy you are pouring into the program, esp with this week on Wisdom.

Alex thank you so much for opening up this topic. I love all 3 of those ideas for the en•theos site where we could grow as a community, get to know each other better, and support each other in the specific ways only a community can provide. Would you mind posting your email address or shooting me a message at j.p.carey@gmail.com? Thanks man.

Hey Cyd, I don't think there is an easy answer to your question...but anytime I find myself reading too deeply into the papers or others' analysis of the NWO or the "Prison Planet" folks...I like to use Byron Katie's "The Work." Ask these 4 questions to clear your mind of the constant looming threat of invisible forces. 1. Is it true? 2. Can I be absolutely certain it is true? 3. Who would I be without assuming this information is true? 4. Turn it around. What fears am I projecting outwards in order to avoid facing realities about myself? These aren't Katie's questions verbatim...just adapted for the particular question you bring up. I also language them using terms I usually think in, to make it more personalized. Play with the concepts using language you use to try and clear your mind of the nonsense, while keeping what IS useful, true, and pertinent to how you want to live your life. Hope this is useful.

I saw this documentary too Maxine and it is amazing what they can do with type 2 diabetes. However, the type 1 people still have to take insulin, right? I couldn't find them commenting on whether or not they could 'cure' type 1, or if the type 2 people had to eat low to no sugar for the rest of their lives. Does the diet actually revert the body into a state that is able to handle blood sugars at normal function?

We talked quite a bit about meditation on the call tonight and I wanted to post a resource for Holosync/brainwave entrainment technologies for meditation. This is a brief email exchange I had with Curt Coleman earlier today. Hoping the information is useful for you guys. Curt: I've been looking into Holosync. Do you have any experience with it? hi Curt. I have tried Holosync with some success. I am actually a big fan of brainwave entrainment technologies to assist with meditation. Holosync is quite expensive though, and there is a Holosync 'clone' that was made by doing a spectral analysis of the HS tracks and then recreated using a program called 'Mind Workstation' from this company www.transparentcorp.com. It is called "Deeper Than a Zen Monk" and is available on the above site if you purchase either Mind Workstation or Neuro Programmer 3. I would highly recommend their product 'Neuro Programmer 3' to gain access to several meditation tracks for various purposes, along with "DTZM". It is much more free-wheelin' meditation style and because there are so many options it is easy to jump around, which can be a weak or strong point depending on how dedicated you are to practice. Brainwave entrainment, like meditation, takes time to lay down new neural pathways. The main advantage to Holosync, as I see it, is because you are encouraged to use 1 level for 3-4 months, and because each level costs $70+, the user is much more 'immersed' and invested in the experience. Their marketing frame of reference turns out to be a very effective mindset for the customers to receive the most benefit from the CDs. If you want to play a little more and have more options though, I'd go with NP3 from Transparentcorp. You can record you own voice affirmations, add your own sounds, change the pitch and other audio tweaks in it too. Just be sure to be consistent on the the practice to get the best results. Other popular pre-packaged brainwave suites include Dr. Jeffrey Thompson http://www.neuroacoustic.com/ Dr. Robert Monroe http://www.hemi-sync.com/ LifeFlow http://www.project-meditation.org/lifeflow.html Brain Evolution System http://www.brainev.com/ Kelly Howell http://www.brainsync.com/home.html (I think Brian uses her products for what he calls 'Napitation.')

Agreed. I have a lot of appreciation and respect for the small farmers who engage in the conscious production of food that is healthy for us, the animals, and the environment. And while we need smaller scale modes of production to go from 1% to 100%, they can't do it without money. We can do our part as consumers by paying a few more dollars (or pounds) to support the triple bottom line. Thanks for doing what you do Caroline! Just ordered "Eating Animals." My consciousness is tugging at me to start getting serious (or playing more earnestly) about bridging the gap between my ideals and my behavior.
Beautiful Alex, I love the idea of apprenticeship. When one is a student of life, the opportunities to learn never stop coming. I've heard Brian reflect his teachings in this way, as being an enthusiastic student of life who wants to share his notes, rather than a teacher who has it all right. I think this is a very beneficial attitude we can take towards our endeavors, apprenticing ourselves to the process and the greats who have come before us. Also in this way, we avoid the delusion of completion and stay in a moment-to-moment state of incremental steps and betterment. I recently purchased an audio program from SoundsTrue.com called "What To Remember When Waking" by poet David Whyte. He speaks A LOT about "starting close in, the step you don't want to take" and "apprenticing oneself" to marriage, craft, and ultimately death as our primary teacher for the good life. It might be valuable for you if you want to go deeper on this humble approach to life. I need a mega dose of this humility and apprentice-like approach to life...because next to perseverance (#24) humility was my #23 on the signature strengths test. Ack!

aaaand another link :] I mentioned on the call tonight that the head nutritionist of the program I used to lose 40lbs. & 14% body fat, while gaining 12lbs. of muscle is a VEGAN, and a RIPPED one at that. He has is also a high volume READER which I think goes perfectly with PhilosophersNotes. He has a great thread on the PrecisionNutrition.com site which is his list of books he's read including reviews from 2008 until now. I don't know if everyone can access this page or of it is members only (sign up is free) but it's a fantastic resource if you want to dive more deeply into the nutrition, fitness, food ethics, and other topics. http://www.precisionnutrition.com/members/showthr...

We had a lot of discussion on tonight's embodiment call regarding nutrition and the virtues of moving from a meat dominated diet to a bodily, environmentally and economically healthier diet mostly comprised of organic plant foods. Brian recommended the book "Eating Animals" by Jonathan Foer if we want to learn more. I just wanted to post this ~1hr presentation by the author to get a preview of the work.
BOUND to be successful! Great story Jayne. I am looking forward to next week on Energy because exercise/nutrition/more embodiment in general has been CENTRAL to my own awakening. After high school (class of 2000) I weighed 280lbs. and was probably around 40% body fat -- I hadn't lifted a weight in my entire life and could barely walk up the stairs. I had all the physical signs of a highly-estrogenated young man. Very disheartening, and leave any talk of being a 'warrior' off the table because I KNEW that *I* could never be a warrior, for any cause, limited to a weak and squishy body. But also around the same time, I had more friends than ever, more guys to look up to and mimic, as well as an inkling of self-determination and the brashness that being an 18 year old young man brings. So I launched an all out attack on the fat cells in my body...and lost close to 100lbs. within 4 months. I wasn't starving myself or even working out that hard...but I think the mental switch to "I can do this" followed by some basic changes in my eating and exercise practices, and again, being an 18 year old young man. That was all well and good but of course when losing weight was "so easy," there wasn't much impetus for me to develop the long term habits that would have me on the road to lifelong strength, health, performance, and general discipline around food and exercise. So slowly, slowly, as I moved out of the roaring metabolism of a young man and into my early, mid, and now late twenties, the weight crept back on. 50 lbs of it. This time though I was armed with better tools of thought and discipline, as well as guidance. I joined a fat loss competition that had daily coaching, well designed exercise progressions, a community, and a $10,000 carrot for whoever did the best after 6 months. During this time I lost 40lbs. and 14% body fat, as well as gained about 12lbs. of lean mass! I didn't win, but made it to the final vote, and as a reward they refunded me the $700 I had spent on the coaching program!! (quick plug for the company at PrecisionNutrition.com -- they now do a men's and women's "Lean Eating Program" once every 6 months and now with $40,000 in total prizes -- as well as a muscle gaining program called "Scrawny to Brawny") So anyway...since the end of the competition 7 months ago I have become a little more squishy...maybe 3-4% body fat put back on, but I am also a lot stronger. Now I have the tools and the right mindset to make fitness central to my life. It is #2 on my fundamentals list right behind meditation/connecting to source/living en-theos. After goals week I decided the next career step for me is to get my Certified Personal Trainer cert and start working 1 on 1 with individuals who are going through the same struggles I did and have not achieved the inner determination to take ownership of their bodies. I think this will give me a chance to engage all of my signature strengths which are 1 Creativity, Ingenuity and Originality 2 Humor & Playfulness 3 Capacity to Love and be Loved 4 Forgiveness and Mercy and 5 Love of Learning. CPT is something I can learn a lot in, apply it in creative ways to my body and my clients (muahaha!), and #s 2,3, and 4 all look like Interpersonal strengths to me...so I envision LOVING working with people and helping them to emerge as the living/breathing/walking/running/jumping/dancing/lifting/loving/GRUNTING/HOWLING deity they are!

Curt thanks for your straightforwardness. I think you hit it right on though when you said to re-listen with a less critical ear and to be more open to each person going through their own process. Personally I gain a lot from listening to the others, ALL others, because I am listening openly and usually with a pen in my hand. If a question doesn't necessarily resonate I might let it pass and my attention may be drawn elsewhere. But I wouldn't worry about not getting my money's worth on this series. Brian is super open and would probably be able to answer any questions you have either directly through his email or on these message boards. And not to worry! This is only the pilot for the OL101 CD program and book Brian has in store for us (I think) so ALL of this goodness will be condensed down the line. Again, thank you for the rigorous honesty (love that!)

Jayne thank you so much for your response and I can't express how grateful and humbled I am to be playing along with YOU, Brian, and the rest of the folks. At 28 years old I have established NO livelihood so to speak, except for a just-above minimum wage job that pays the rent and the bills (and not much else!). What I have done is poured myself into years of dialogue with others and personal time investigating deeper into my own and our shared experience. Three questions have driven my search since about age 13; Who Am I? What Are We? What is the Meaning of All This?! 15 years later I still don't have any good answers! So, this is what I can offer to the group, and in return I draw MASSIVE respect, admiration and inspiration from you and others who have dedicated their life to a vocation, run their own business, or are otherwise purposefully and financially on point. I have SO much to learn from you guys! Your experience with not buying the Sharma 21 day program resonates strongly with me. Like I mentioned in another post, I am an information addict! My stream of books from the library, borrowed DVDs, recorded programs on the DVR, and otherwise *ahem* "acquired" programs from internet sources is never ending, even as this program goes on. However, more and more I look at my heaps of books and hard drives full of content, and have to ask "Will I ever truly dive into this content?" Half-hearted attempts don't count. I think we learn by full engagement and at this point I have 10+ years of stuff to read/view/listen to. It's never gonna happen! It's GOTTA GO! Within the next couple weeks I am going to make a donation to the library of my 2 full sized shelves stacked with books, as well as purge all of the "I oughta look at that one day" content from my computer(s). 1 step at a time, and the next, and the next. OL101 is EXACTLY what I needed to reign in my out of control information hoarding, fooling myself into thinking I had a goldmine. Now I see the goldmine is my own mind...and the mind has certain rules it likes to play by (ie; slow, steady, focused, consistent, inspired). Given the new tools from OL101 I can start to engage my mind in fresh ways that I feel a surge of power behind. REALLY excited to put these principles into action and see how things change over time. As far as my Kaizen approach so far...I have been asking myself (and my girlfriend) what 1 small thing can we do to improve our living situation? We have been taking care of dishes, getting rid of old clothes, going to bed 1 minute earlier or waking up 1 minute earlier...and in just a week a lot has improved! We both commented today about how the energy in the house felt much more alive. Fun stuff!

I am totally enamored with my voice and usually listen to the playbacks to see if I made sense/quality of my speech (I studied political rhetoric and public communication), and my preferred method of meditation is CHANT so... voice narcissism in action! If I was the culprit please let me know :D I try to be precise and connect what I am saying to the rest of the audience, without going overboard on personal anecdotes. Its one of those hard things to calculate you know? How far do we let people elaborate on their insights, especially when it comes to these deeper philosophical/spiritual insights? Hard call to make, but I want to be notified if I am taking up too much time on the calls. I think I spoke 3 times last night!
