Hey Bob! Indeed, it has been more than I ever expected. I am loving China and I look forward to catching up when you are in Shanghai. If my memory is correct you also bought a silk carpet with me when we were in Beijing? Not sure what it is actually worth, but the experience was priceless. Give me a shout when you are planning your next trip.

It was several months of neglect and I logged in with over 200 Spam comments. In an effort to clean it up, it appears I deleted hundreds of real comments with them. I am happy I was able to restore some of them but apologize for those accidentally dropped.

jdean3 : 1.2 Case for Change: "I hate my job!"

Good luck with your blog! I readily admit I am a novice, just finding my own way with the blog. I stopped worrying about carving out a specific niche since nothing really stands out (at least not with the clarity I wanted). Instead, I've just focused on having fun and learning along the way. Go for it.....you'll have fun creating something and let it evolve over time.

I too am new to WordPress, but the expertise for designing this site belongs to Mitch Canter at <a href=\\\"http://www.studionashvegas.com/\\\" rel=\\\"nofollow\\\"><a href="http://www.studionashvegas.com/" target="_blank">http://www.studionashvegas.com/

Thanks, but I'm not really interested in any rankings. This is just a conversation for the sake of inspiring each other, and we are in no rush. Have a great week!

You're right...it would be sad if true. I'm hoping, it's not. While I don't think we can expect much in the way of meaningful "recognition" (which could be another subject of debate) from our employers who are really preoccupied with survival...it is up to US to reinforce each other. Although we might have escaped the massive isolation that has permeated some parts of the organization (not to mention a few other OEM's in this town), we still have a long way to go. I think we are lucky to have a huge number of retiree supporters that stay connected. I also think we are lucky that there are still a few folks around that want to have fun again. Keep it up!

I was beginning to think no one was even reading this thing...thanks for the kick! You're the greatest. As I may have mentioned, I have several more personal postings to get out of my system before I get to the heart of the site. I'll still try to incite reaction, though....especially from the more timid sideliners. I have several posting in draft mode that will likely move a few people I know off the bench. It will be good practice for after we officially launch and publicize. At least, I'm having fun with it.

jdean3 : Social Media Mandate

One of the things I've learned about Social Media is it really isn't as much about a medium for advertising as it is for truly connecting with people. If someone tries to use it to "spread messages" it just gets lost in the clutter (kind of like people who send 25 twitter messages before lunch--get turned out). I also think it is Dilbert material to see "Press Releases" on SM sites. Using SM, I've really enjoyed reconnecting with old friends and seeing how their lives are going. It allows even lazy folks like me to keep others informed of what's going on and vice versa. I have also found it easier to throw in the personal plug for Ford products without being an idiot about it. It led to a friend asking about a Milan (offline) and I even supported an X-Plan as a result. Wouldn't it be nice if the whole world could easily get an X-Plan pricing as a result of being "connected" to a Ford employee is some social media network? Thanks for reading....and commenting.

jdean3 : Place your ORDER here.

Mike, First, I'm sorry for the delayed response. Since this is your second posting, it should have automatically shown up as approved rather than going into the "moderator" bin. I will keep investigating why that function doesn't seem to work yet. Secondly, I can promise you that your experience and opinion is exactly what this venue needs. While I may use several references to my own experience at Ford Motor Company, it isn't at all about Ford or the current state of the Company. I fully suspect, by the way, that the majority of contributions and dialogue will come from outside my small circle of FMC employees. In fact, after 25 years, I'd guarantee it. I am hopeful that we can find a way to bring a number of perspectives to bear on various topics that some might actually find helpful in this day & age. I'm thinking it will be fun in the long run....even if a bit embarrassing to get the ball rolling using my own experiences. Your willingness to participate is awesome! This dialogue is really about experiences. Its a place where one persons perspective can be bounced against others and debated or refined, in hopes, that the conversation is found useful for participants and readers.
