WDTN.com | 2 News : Military dad still not buried

This sad indeed and is a lesson for me to ensure my family has all the paper work necessary before I pass on. I feel for this family and pisses me off that red tape is once again working against the vets it is supposed to support and protect. I understand the governments hesitation, especially with all the frauds as of late claiming awards and vet status, when they didn't even serve. Sadly this is never reported on, but there are thousands of cases a year of these fakers and frauds trying to get benefits they do not deserve. However as stated, there has to be a DD214 from his discharge, when I did funeral details, this was all that was required for us to render honors. So for all vets, have copies of your records, protect them and ensure your family knows where they are. And a good point was brought up, where is the Amercian Legion and VFW as well as the local VSO. These organizations are there for a reason, they need to psuh themselves away from the bar and get to work supporting the people they exist to support and we pay our dues for.
