In my life, I have NEVER seen audience reaction to ANY movie like seeing Die Hard in the theater for the first time. That includes the Star Wars movies, and Speilberg's movies.

Big Hollywood : Top 25 Left-Wing Films: #13 - 'Three Days of the Condor' (1975)

But is it the CIA independently doing those things, as is portrayed in this movie...or is it our current administration making horrible policy decisions? Most anti-government movies are left-wing. Can you think of any that aren't?

John, remember to get at least a mention of Catch-22 in your top 25 left-wing films. I was always blown away by the fact that through the entire movie there were NO Nazis or German soldiers whatsoever in it. Later I realized that this was done so the audience could ONLY wind up being furious with the American commanders who kept sending the pilots into dangerous bombing missions. An excellent film. Alan Arkin should've won Best Actor for that role.

Sounds like you slept through the film, then woke up to watch the ending. The movie claimed that the entire CIA is dedicated to stealing other countries natural resources. It IS a left-wing film.

Big Hollywood : Top 25 Left-Wing Films: #23 - 'Salvador' (1986)

Not so much the CIA really, but the School of the Americas, held at a U.S. military base, I forget which one. The School of the Americas was where we trained many South American and Central American military officers to fight and repel communist aggression and expansion in their countries. Regrettably, our training for that purpose was instead used by many foreign officers to crackdown on their own countrymen, and commit atrocities to their own people we had hoped they were interested in protecting.

You miss seeing Salvador at your own peril. What a great film. There are so many close calls with death for James Woods and Jim Belushi in the movie I lost count. So many great scenes: Woods and Belushi drinking and driving all the way to El Salvador, the initial chaos, gunfire and violence when they get there - "Whatever you do, don't get on the ground!", etc. - Woods in confession asking the priest if he can still drink a little whiskey and smoke a little reefer once in a while, Woods telling John Savage he has to see / have sex with his woman in a hammock before he goes to cover the fighting... Woods and Stone outdid themselves with this one.

There was no story to the original Tron, just an excuse to put a person into a computerized world, but the effects at the time were impressive. I expect greater visuals in Legacy, but I'm not expecting the storyline to improve. Maybe I'm in for a surprise.

The old rule of screenwriting is: simple plots, complex characters. That's where I think Nolan got mixed up. But for the first time in movie history, Inception had a scene with mirrors, in which you saw the subjects full on in the mirror - and no cameramen or crew. All removed by CGI, of course. But awesome.
