HillBuzz.org : ACTION ITEM: Identify the horcurxes the Left relies on to maintain power

Horcruxes: - Rewriting history + owning the schools/colleges that teach the history - PC-ness - Splitting rights & responsibilities. (People have rights; govt has the responsibility to provide X, Y, Z for the people. The ant has the responsibility to provide for the grasshopper; the grasshopper has the right to the ant's stuff.) - "Unions protect the entire working class" - Class warfare ("There is no middle class. There are the super rich, and there are the rest of us.") - Faux News. (Contradictory information is labeled lies, false, etc with no proof or discussion.)

HillBuzz.org : QUESTION: What are your issues with Rick Perry?

Here's my take on Gardasil: Here's my take on Gardasil: 1. MANDATORY? It was NOT mandatory. It's all about semantics, really. Yes, it was technically described as "mandatory", but, as is the case with all vaccines, parents had the right to opt out. In my book, if you can opt out of something, that means it's not mandatory. That is super important. Rick Perry's "mandatory" program merely added Gardasil to the list of other vaccination shots children "must" get (however, their parents can sign an affidavit to prevent their child from being vaccinated). 2. ADVERSE REACTIONS I've heard Perry slammed because children had adverse reactions to the drug. I've also heard him slammed for not overturning the law when the adverse reactions became known. My only reaction to this is that the drug was approved by the FDA. It takes forever for the FDA to approve things; they are way more cautious than other countries. Perry had no reason to second guess the FDA. Also, all drugs have possible side-effects, and the responsible physician discusses this with the patient. I don't want my government interfering with my doctor-patient relationship, so I can't hold it against Perry that some doctors may not have discussed adverse reactions. (That's a dr thing, not a govt thing, imo.) Lastly, Perry is not a scientist, nor did he administer the drug. Adverse reactions could have been due to any number of things (such as conflicting medications, improper treatment, symptoms tied to something entirely different...). Since the vaccine was not mandatory, should Perry have revoked the Gardasil law without proper scientific/medical inquiry? (Surely there is an already established protocol for doctors to report problems -- or patients to report problematic doctors -- or the FDA to reevaluate a drug.) 3. WHY "MANDATORY" IF IT'S NOT? Semantics to prevent insurance companies from playing tricks; semantics to make the vaccine available via Medicaid; semantics to help make the vaccine available to the most people possible... If the vaccine were available/optional but not "mandatory", insurance would cover it differently than other (not-really-)mandatory vaccines. Since some see it as a sex-related drug, the insurance companies could easily try to make the $400 shot not covered at all. That would mean it would be available to far less people. Since calling the drug "mandatory" did not actually make it mandatory-mandatory, that was one easy way to make the drug available to a much larger group of children (and potentially prevent a lot of cancer). Semantics. As for the $, I have no new information to offer regarding backdoor (or not) deals. I also don't have any comments about how this (inadvertently?) took $ out of tax payers' pockets by putting Gardasil in a category that was coverable by Medicaid -- except I would like to say this one thing. I think this drug is amazing and wish it had existed when I was young enough to take it. Ideologically, I don't like the government using tax dollars to provide healthcare. On the other hand, if it's gonna happen (and it will), my preference is preventative care. And that's what Gardasil is. NOT ABOUT GARDASIL: My mother has a niggling, intuitive, weird feeling about Perry that has nothing to do with his history or the negative talking points. I only mention this because I've heard others on blogs say similar things. I'm suspicious it's due to an internal conflict between wanting to trust what the cocktail party tells her and knowing that it's time to elect someone who can truly fix Obama's mess. (She tends to be an eeyore.) I don't know how to reach out to people who are internally divided like that. It seems like the more I try to provide evidence that helps to logically support non-Mittens, the more she crawls back into the safety of What The Establishment Tells Her. I sure wish I did know how to reach out to people stuck in that divide. /soapbox
