I'm not trying to attack, and maybe its just a misunderstanding. It just seems like your trying to make an excuse for her by saying she was mentally ill. Mental or not, she knew it was wrong and hope she is held responsible for it since many women who abuse their children always get a slap on the wrist due to some excuse, sob story, or the "it was just hormones" excuse.
If you ever held a newborn baby, you can see how precious and tender thay are. Such angels. It takes a whole lot of evil and someone with no soul to just dump or hurt one. Hope she never gets pregnant again.
Unless you consider evil to be mentally ill, I think this is just another evil, selfish woman who didn't want to be inconvienced with that baby. She's no different than Casey Anthony. Would you say the same thing if a man did this? Or if the child was three or four years old? To me, wheter its a newborn or older child, this is sick and twisted and no excuse to hurt a child.
Mental Health? Sorry but she tossed a baby like it was a piece of garbage. No excuse for that, and even if the female (I will not call that thing a mother) is a teenager she is old enough to know right from wrong. She had no problem satisfying her sexual urges but when she (attempts) to murders her baby and we're suppose to feel sorry for her? If she cared about that child it would have been either put up for adoption, handed over to hospital staff, or even left on someone's doorstep where it could be safely found. Obviously she didn't give a damn that's why the baby was in the trash.
I agree! It goes to show how quick society will always jump to conclusions that a black person is always the criminal. When this story came out I read some pretty harsh comments of what people wanted to do to this suspect. I wonder if the suspect would have been white if there would even be such an outcry.
Glad this one survived and hope he gets adopted to parents that deserve him.
Sad if this female (I refuse to call her a mother) was raped, but that is still no excuse to treat a baby like garbage. Anyone who dumps a baby shows the type of person they are. I'm sick of murdering mothers getting a slap on the wrist because of their sob story.
Don't forget this fact too:
"There were also numerous bruises of varying ages on the child, including a bruise on the eye, several on the torso and on the knees."
How did the "Mom" not know about this? What kind of mother lets a scumbag beat a baby? She obviously didn't care about this child. She should rot in jail right along with this monster. There is no excuse! This is so sick! Some people do not deserve to have children period.

I agree. I don't see how anyone could use physical force on a baby. She could have left him in his crib or called someone for help. May this little guy rest in peace.
This is why anyone who has had past encounters with child welfare and domestic violence shouldn't be allowed to be parents. That baby should have been adopted out to parents who deserved him when he was born. The more second chances are given to "parents" like this, the more these tragic things will continue.
